LINCOLN MEMORIAL REFLECTING POOL ALGAE CLEANUP: Crews are working today to clean the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool after algae growth turned the water green. Experts say the pool is prone to algae blooms due to stagnant water and heavy sun exposure. The pool was recently repainted "American flag blue" as part of President Trump's DC renovation project, and the darker color could be contributing to the growth. Paint has also recently been seen peeling from the pool floor.

After the Trump administration splashed out almost $15 million trying to turn the Lincoln Memorial reflecting pool an "American flag blue" - huge chunks of blue paint have begun peeling off and floating to the surface. Shortly after the pool was refurbished, algae returned - turning the water green. Workers were told to dump hydrogen peroxide into the pool, dislodging sections of blue sealant in the process.

🚨TRUMP TURNS NATIONAL MALL REFLECTING POOL BRIGHT BLUE Crews drained the 2,028-foot pool in late April and covered the bottom with swimming-pool blue paint. Trump personally inspected the empty basin on May 7 while criticizing earlier repair plans under Obama and Biden that cost $38 million to $300 million. Supporters say the new look fixes years of leaks and green, murky water near the Washington Monument and Lincoln Memorial. Critics call the color tacky as questions grow over a $6.9 million no-bid contract tied to the project.
