This man who is a landscaper said you should never build a tree coffin around a tree. He said it ends up making the tree die by restricting the roots and having too much mulch. I never knew they were called "tree coffins". I looked it up and it does say they can be very detrimental to your tree if not done correctly. The pavers can restrict root growth and the mulch shouldn't be too thick or torching the base of the tree. I have seen some pretty nice "tree coffins". I never knew they were bad for your trees. Do you have these around your trees? Did you build one a certain way that allows your tree to flourish? What about the people who cemented their pavers together and in the ground?

Did you know the black bottu/bindi used on kids to ward off the evil eye wasn’t always from Kohl / kajal ? Traditionally, it came from the exudate of the Vengai tree (Pterocarpus marsupium), a beautiful native tree that literally “bleeds” when cut. I saw this beautiful tree during my field visit. The tree’s timber, valued next only to Red Sanders (Semmaram), is durable but never used for main door frames, as stepping on it is considered disrespectful. The neighbor is complaining that his oak tree leaves fall into his yard and mix with the leaves from his own tree. He originally demanded the man go to the neighbors yard and separate his leaves from the neighbors leaves and remove them. When he didn’t do that, the neighbor started to blow all of the leaves onto his property including the leaves from his own trees. Would you go separate your leaves from his like he wants or is he being petty?

No one is allowed to cut down trees without authorization from the relevant government authorities. Today, I took action against a developer in Parklands who was cutting down trees without following the proper procedure or obtaining the required permission. Any developer intending to cut down trees in our city must follow the established procedure and is required to replace every tree that is removed. We will not allow our city to be turned into a desert.

NEW: Robbery in Oakland, CA is getting so bad that criminals are now stealing *bonsai trees.* Oakland is basically a 3rd world country at this point Thieves broke into a bonsai garden in Lake Merritt & stole 8 bonsai trees. One tree was a 100 year old Hinoki cypress. In total, experts believe the stolen trees were worth about $20,000. "While you can put a dollar amount on these trees, they are technically priceless because you'll never find another tree like them," said Suzanne Muller who is the assistant director at the garden. The garden was protected with metal fences and wooden walls however the thugs still made it through.

The US Forest Service is planning on spraying glyphosate over a large areas of the Sierra at Tahoe in California They’ve actually already started. The goal is to kill competing native shrubs, grasses and hardwoods so commercially valuable conifers pine and fir seedlings can be hand-planted and grow faster with less competition But here’s the thing, why is that necessary The reason this is being done in the first place is because of the Caldor Fire. They want to replant trees But you don’t need to spray poison over the entire area to do that Forests already rebound well on their own with diverse vegetation. If you want to plant more of a specific tree you can do that without the poison “Studies have shown glyphosate can harm human health and the environment. And there are now more than $12 billion in legal payouts to people who say it made them sick” There were rumors it was cancelled, but that’s not true It’s partially moving forward, partially paused Lake Tahoe Basin including areas near Sierra-at-Tahoe, Heavenly, Meyers: The US Forest Service Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit is holding off on herbicide use for 2026 and 2027. They are relying on manual/mechanical methods and prescribed burns instead for the 11,700-acre Tahoe Basin portion of the project. No new spraying is expected in the immediate basin watershed during this period. Some spraying occurred in 2025 Broader Caldor Fire project outside the strict Tahoe Basin, in Eldorado National Forest: The overall 75,000-acre restoration plan is moving forward, with some 2026 spraying already completed or ongoing in non-basin sections. This woman lives in an HOA. The back of her yard backs up into an easement that is owned by the HOA. The trees back there are on the easement. She points out that there are fallen branches all over her neighbors yard because of the trees and there were many in her yard as well. So she and her children went and picked up all the branches and sticks in her yard and then she piled them up under the tree. She said since the tree is on the HOA easement, it’s their problem. She wants to know if she is the bad guy in all this. If it were me, I’d maintain my yard and put the branches and sticks out for the trash pickup. Do you think she is in the right and it’s the HOA’s problem? Or do you think she is wrong and is making a mountain out of a molehill and there are better hills to plant your flag on?

This family went out of town for vacation. When they got back they noticed the neighbor had cut down some branches from their tree that were hanging over to their side. No discussion, no contact, they felt like they waited until they were gone to trim the tree. Many people said that if it is on their side hanging over they have every right to cut those branches. A lot of people brought up “Tree Law” and suggested she had a case. 🤔 Looks like there are more branches that hang over as well. We have many trees in my neighborhood and many of us share trees that give us shade and hang over each other’s property. WILMETTE PUBLC COMMENT: This resident spoke last night during the Wilmette (Illinois) Village Board of Trustees meeting. He wants to cut down an old tree on his property that is causing damage to his sidewalk from the roots. It is a nuisance and a danger. The village now calls old trees “heritage trees” not in an effort to preserved trees but to charge new permit fees. The permit fee use to be $75 and quite often people don’t get permits. Most people only remove trees that are a hazard or might be in the way of a new construction of home addition. This resident was charge a $5000 permit tree to cut down a dying tree that was a nuisance and potential danger. The village has taken this as a CASH GRAB opportunity with mention of the direction of the new revenue source to section 8 & subsidized housing for connected developers. The village is also considering increasing demolition fees from $4500 to $20,000. I’m not sure but maybe there should be NO fees to improve your property. This resident who complained about the tree permit fees might had been a senior. So now the village trustees are talking about “affordable housing” for seniors yet they are increasing permit fees not to mention property tax increases for seniors, THIS IS NOT AFFORDABLE HOUSING. You can’t make this stuff up.

Intense heatwave and Chandigarh on a tree cutting spree. When the entire country is advised how to protect themselves from #Heatwave. Ridiculously ridiculous. There wasn’t the need to cut these trees. These trees are not obstruction . The road is wide enough. Cycle track is already there. These trees were guy grown Eucalyptus trees. Somehow I am seeing eucalyptus trees are the ones being cut all over Chandigarh, in Panjab University, Sector 9 , last year in sector 7 as well. The cost of eucalyptus timber generally ranges from ₹400 to ₹900 per cubic foot depending on the region and wood quality. For bulk quantities or industrial use (e.g., pulp, poles, or firewood), it typically costs between ₹10,000 to ₹12,000 per metric tonne. Why just eucalyptus? Incredible video shot by Jason Stewart. It is so easy to see the tornado damage path on the east side of Lake Hamilton. This is where the tornado came off of the lake. Check out the convergent and widespread tree blowdown. There is hardly a tree left standing towards the middle of the tornado path. Thankfully the walls are left standing on most of the homes here on the eastern shore of the Lake off of Peninsula Dr. #ARWX

The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office is currently on the scene of a deputy-involved shooting on West Shell Point Road in Ruskin. Is someone paying people to poison children and then shift the blame on the sparzas so that they are removed from the townships for Pick n Pay and Shoprite to take over the sparzas? #FightForTownshipEconomy
