House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) said Wednesday he "was taken a little bit aback" by Pope Leo XIV's comments on the Iran war. "If you wade into political waters, I think you should expect some political response," Johnson said when asked about President Trump and Vice President Vance's comments about the pontiff. "I would say that these are matters that people of good faith and good sense can debate and think through," he said. "And I think that's what that reflects."
