#WATCH | Delhi | On the Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA) program, Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh says, "As of now, we haven't gone, or we haven't taken a decision, to go in for any global or outside fifth-generation fighter aircraft programme. Our programme is AMCA, and AMCA has...

India should buy 126 Su-57 with local production at HAL Nashik facility. I don't have much faith in indigenous programs after Tejas fiasco.

India’s decision to focus on the indigenous AMCA programme marks a significant step toward building advanced fifth-generation fighter capability within the country. With global vendors being considered for partnership while Indian industry remains central, the programme can strengthen technological capability, aerospace manufacturing and strategic self-reliance.

#WATCH | Delhi | On being asked about the status of our submarine programme, including Project-75(I), and others, Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh says, "Both Project-75(I) and additional Scorpene submarines are being considered. Project-75(I) is at the final stage. It has been submitted and is pending a final decision by the competent authority. Additional Scorpene submarines are also being considered. It is not as advanced as the other one, but that is also under consideration. In addition to that, we are trying to put our indigenous, DRDO-developed Air Independent Propulsion (AIP) system into one of our indigenous submarines when it comes in for a refit towards the middle of next year. We have multiple lines of effort going on to strengthen our underwater capabilities" "Submarines will be entirely built in India, no doubt about it. There's no such suggestion or consideration in any case...Besides the indigenous Air Independent Propulsion (AIP), the two additional Scorpenes, and the strategic partner model for the Project-75(I) programme with the Germans, the Naval Physical & Oceanographic Laboratory (NPOL), our laboratory, has recently developed a very advanced indigenous integrated combat system for our submarines. We are going to start putting that in all of our submarines over time, as they come in for refits. That will again be a major game changer when it comes to improving the combat capabilities of our submarines"

#WATCH | Delhi | On Drones and sixth-generation fighter aircraft programmes, Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh says, "On the sixth-generation fighter aircraft programmes, there are multi-country programmes ongoing, one involving the UK, Japan, and Italy, and another in which France and Germany were together, although Germany is now no longer part of it. We had expressed interest in both of those groups of countries because all of them are friendly foreign countries for us. We are veering around to the idea that, now that Germany has left, perhaps the French programme, since we have a large inventory of French aircraft, is something we should examine. We are pursuing discussions with the French, and we'll see how that goes, but we have expressed our interest. On drones, the number and size of the orders are impossible for me to give because a lot of those orders are placed under delegated powers at the command and Vice Chief levels. At the centralised level, there are the larger drone orders. Of course, you are aware of the 31 MQ-9B drones. That's about $3.5 billion, and that order was placed about two years ago. Those are the HALE-class drones. A lot of smaller orders have been placed by all three services under delegated powers. After Operation Sindoor, under emergency procurement as well, significant orders for both drones and counter-drone systems have been placed by the services. We are in the process of trying to ensure that, since drones have a very short technological cycle, there is no point in undertaking multi-year procurement for them. We will try to procure these mostly through the fast-track process..."

#WATCH | Delhi | On IIT Delhi's 68th Foundation Day, IIT Delhi Director Rangan Banerjee says, "We have nearly 65,000 alumni, out of which 40,000 are in India. They have an impact on companies, in corporate, in the public sector, in the government and in start-ups... Our alumni have also created employment... In academia, our alumni have been leaders in research. Many of them have been serving as directors of IITs, IIMs, and NITs... For the first time, we have assessed the impact of alumni contributions to India and globally and started a report... In the years that they have been there, the alumni have been transformed, they have learnt and they have contributed and they continue to contribute. This document quantifies this and shows that all the investments that is made for the IITs have actually resulted in impact in the society in terms of jobs, in terms of money..." He also says, "We are going to move from being a single-campus institution to a multi-campus institution. We want to provide an education that is globally competitive, which makes people future-ready. We also want to see that our research makes an impact. We want to see ourselves catalysing the innovation and startup ecosystem in the Delhi NCR region. And also in a few critical areas, we will set some targets for creating some global research impact...
