FSD V14.1.7 | Near Accident This is without a doubt the closest I have come to getting into an accident in a long time. I think had I not taken over and slammed on the brakes we would not have slowed down in time. You can see that FSD does an incredible job reacting to the car (even before I noticed it) and was slowing down, but it was not slowing down enough to stop in time. As soon as I saw the car swerving to the right I worried she was going to bounce back into my lane so that is when I decided to go full on the brakes to stop the car. You can see prior to me taking over we were full regen braking (which is FSD reacting well) but it wasn't using any real brakes at all, and ABS was not active until I took over. Let me know what you all think in the comments. I still think FSD is incredible - the reality is if you watch the video the car saw and reacted to the situation before I did, it just didn't brake as agressively as it needed to in this situation. FSD + an attentive driver is without a doubt in my mind still safer than a normal human driver who is not using FSD.

Did a lot of V14 highway testing today. Major, major improvements. Follow distance is way more comfortable and dynamic based on speeds. The car always gets to the left when it can as cars merge onto the highway. Way faster reactions to speed changes and way sooner. There was a broken down car blocking the right lane, and FSD shifted left before I even noticed it. I hated how closely V13 followed cars in fast moving, dense traffic. I also hated that I’d see traffic pattern changes ahead before the car seemed to notice. All of these anxiety triggers are completely gone now. Highway driving has been magic so far. Here’s a clip of FSD safely and flawlessly handling the shortest merge lane of all time.

Another moment of FSD chills. If you aren’t using FSD daily but want to understand what makes it so special and mind-blowing, watch this entire clip. V14.2 approaches a cyclist on a winding, rural back road with blind turn after blind turn. For nearly 2 minutes, FSD patiently follows the cyclist, keeping a safe distance as we navigate blind bend after blind bend. When FSD finally has enough visibility distance, it hits the accelerator and executes the pass. This is exactly how I would’ve handled this. The moment it passed is the exact moment I would’ve passed. All prior opportunities were too risky due to lack of distance visibility. It is in these moments where subtle, but complex intelligence emerges. It didn’t used to be like this. We’ve watched this level of intelligence emerge over time. This is why using FSD is the ultimate signal for what Tesla is. It is how you can realize that Tesla made the right decision going all in on intelligence over sensor bloat. These sorts of moments occur often in driving, and you won’t be able to scale any AV to places like this until you have complex, high density intelligence per kWh. Vehicles are still visible even at the farthest reaches of the horizon. The level of draw distance in this game is absolutely insane. You can even spot cars moving across distant mountains, which is incredible to see. If this is what we’re seeing now, the final game is going to be on another level. One of the complaints some FSD testers in China made is that the system is too cautious and courteous. In order to navigate through chaotic traffic, most Chinese drivers are assertive when they’re in multilane roundabouts, narrow streets and intersections where everybody forces his or her way out. Yielding to others may get you stuck in traffic. That kind of behavior is socially acceptable and nobody criticizes it. In this clip, you will find the Tesla with FSD on waited too long for the gap to turn right into a neighborhood because there was endless traffic flow of mopeds from the bike lane on the right. During the whole wait time, however, 3 other vehicles successfully made right turn by negotiating with moped operators. Will video clips like this feed into “bad behavior” of FSD after training? Each country is different and FSD needs to adapt as the old saying goes when in Rome do as the Romans do. This traffic circle has been a long-standing pain point for me on FSD. As you can see, the car consistently drives in the bike lane here. I’ve documented this behavior before on FSD 12, 13, and now 14. The issue appears to stem from outdated map data. This section of the circle used to function as a two-way roadway. At the time, there was no bike lane and vehicles traveled in the space FSD still prefers today. Since the redesign, that area is now a dedicated bike lane, but FSD doesn’t reliably recognize the change. Depending on the version, it will occasionally handle this correctly, but most of the time it does not. This is currently the only issue I consistently experience with FSD. It’s not safety critical. The car will move if a cyclist, vehicle, or object is present, but reliance on outdated map data in locations like this needs to improve.

I think as always it’s fair to talk about the good and the bad with each new version of FSD that comes out. It feels like FSD V14.2.2.4 is still struggling with speed control. I spent the majority of my drive tonight in standard and I found that on most straight stretches of road the car was going under the speed limit by a considerable amount (15kmh at times) Here’s a raw clip of the car driving between 60-67 kmh in a 70kmh zone with zero cars around it to slow it down. The road is well lit with traffic lights, so I don’t really see any reason at all to be driving this way. Let me know what you all think.

This major issue with the FSD 14.3 branch is still present in 14.3.4. FSD has completely forgotten how to handle this green left turn arrow FSD fights back if you try to hold the accelerator and in 2 of the 3 attempts this causes the wheel to fly around so much I have to grab it This is a major issue that generally results in a critical disengagement (either getting completely stuck at the light or becoming stranded in the intersection if the car goes the wrong way - either way confusing human traffic). Rarely the car does somewhat respond to the accelerator and can be coaxed through. FSD has never had this level of difficulty going through this intersection from this direction through 14.2.2.5

#5 You can't steal any cars and you can only enter from the left side of the car There's only one animation to enter the car and that's from the left side, during some in-game missions you aren't even allowed to get out of the car and explore the open world like this one here, I tried getting out of the car to walk on foot but the game didn't allow me to. This is because the Open World of MindsEye is extremely restricted, the Game doesn't want you do explore so it either forces you to move from point A to point B with a timer and most of the times it asks you to enter a car and you can't get out of it once you're inside the vehicle.

FSD slams on the brakes for a cat in the road that doesn’t even exist. This is FSD 12.6.4 on HW3, which is a lot more sensitive to shadows & objects in the road with the 2026.8.6 update. There are many reports of brake stabbing. It brings me back to the days when I was testing with v10.3 of FSD back in 2021. It’s interesting that it’s the same FSD version as before, and not something like 12.6.4.1, but I guess Tesla can change the weights without changing the version. And they’ve likely been doing this for a while with 12.6.4. 😒

Amazing V14.3.4 clip that joel just sent me and asked me to share from his M3P. What I love most about this clip is that FSD understands what needs to happen and reacts BEFORE the lead car even throws it in reverse. This is such a critical indicator that FSD isn’t just reacting to objects in its path, but actually understands what happens next before it even needs to start backing up to clear the dodge ram. This is one of my favorite edge cases in a minute. FSD IS THE TRUTH

We are seeing lots of examples of FSD doing really well in the Netherlands, and that’s great. But from my own and my friends’ experience, I know that despite it doing great most of the time, it makes mistakes every now and then. I’d love for these to be shared too so we get a realistic view of EU FSD. Out of the 4 instances I experienced, I was only recording during one - and it was the most serious. The car turned left onto Wibautstraat, a big through-traffic street in Adam East. It then did something really weird: in the flow of traffic after a green light, it suddenly stopped in the middle of a crossing on the right side of the right lane (but blocking traffic from behind), despite the navigation directing it to continue on Wibautstraat. 🤷‍♂️

But Zee News falsely claims that the truck driver stopped the truck in the middle of the road to pray Namaaz and caused traffic jam and even claims the road was empty at the front when it isn't. The video clearly shows so many vehicles before this truck are standing still but how conveniently and openly they lie. Shameless liars.
