Last week, we were in Danville to scout hijacked City of Tshwane properties. Today, we are back with reinforcements to reclaim our properties. Our first stop used to be clinic, but is now being used illegally as a scrap yard and a crèche. The conditions of this place are not good to safeguard children. We are closing down this illegal ECD and scrapyard. We’ve called the parents to come and collect the children. City of Tshwane

Across the State right now, LAWMA intervention trucks are working side by side with waste compactors from our Local Government Councils and I am pleased to confirm that they are actively collecting and evacuating every bag, every pile, and every debris generated during the monthly environmental sanitation exercise. This collaboration between LAWMA and the Local Government Councils is exactly the kind of synergy we envisioned when we reinstated this exercise because waste management must be a shared responsibility from the state level right down to the grassroots. I commend the swift response of our teams on the field and I assure every Lagosian that we will not rest until the entire city is clean, cleared, and safe. This is the operational backbone of our commitment to a #CleanerLagos and a #GreaterLagos.

Residents of sectional title properties’ September bills include an amount of R223.53 for waste management and R447.06 for miscellaneous charges for city cleansing. All residents of sectional title properties who have received this levy on their bills must officially dispute this charge with the city. DA councillors are making an inventory of complexes with a waste management account from the city where residents are also being billed a city cleansing levy. We will submit these particulars to the city manager and the chief financial officer for the double billing to be reversed.
