Typing was NOT the most surprising part of the surface keyboard pushed in #MetaQuest latest update. Let me start by telling you how to try it yourself (available only on Quest 3) 1- On your phone, open the Meta Horizon app. 2- Go to Devices and select your headset 3- Tap Headset settings, then tap Advanced settings. 4- Tap the toggle next to Public Test Channel to join Meta Quest PTC (Public Test Channel) 5- After go in the headset settings > experimental features > surface keyboard ⌨️ Typing felt very responsive but what caught me off guard was the touchpad. 🖱️Even when looking straight at the screen the cursor moves accurately as if you are using an actual trackpad. Tapping acts as a click and it just works. ✌️ It also responds to the scrolling motion using 2 Fingers!

What happens when two wolves find a badger in the woods…some trail camera gold!! Moral of the story: you just don’t mess around with badgers! For a bit of context, the pair of wolves here are the Blood Moon Pack (the pack was only 2 wolves last winter). The breeding female of the Blood Moon Pack, Wolf Y5E, was killed by the Biondich Pack in late January 2025. This left the breeding male, Wolf Y1T, by himself as the Blood Moon Pack was just a breeding pair. However, Y1T found a new mate by early March or so. The first wolf in the video is his new mate who he had been traveling with for the past 1.5 months (this video was taken in mid-April 2025). The Blood Moon Pack did not produce pups in 2025 because the mating season had passed by the time Y1T found his new mate. A few months ago, I completed the Superstition Icon Loop as my first solo backpacking trip. I was supposed to camp on top of Battleship Mountain on night 2, however that didn't quite go as planned. By the time I got to the first scramble - the wall - my legs were tired, shaky, and I didn't feel comfortable getting my heavy pack up safely. I still made it to the summit, but I had to drop my pack and camp lower than I had planned. Ever since then, it's been stuck in my head. So I came back - with fresh legs, more experience, and one goal: finish what I started and finally camp on top!

I have never seen the Baulks move as much as today, I think the marks on the frame are around 30cm apart (I will try and check this at the weekend) so I think they are moving up and down by around 1 metre in the waves. I don’t think I managed to get the most movement on a video.

My wife says I’m a “messy cook” because I don’t clean as I go like she does. I’m the same way with software and music: I focus on what I’m doing so I can keep moving forward, then I clean up when I’m done. Cleaning as I go distracts me from the task at hand. Marc Andreessen recently said that when writing software it takes 2 hours to get into what you’re doing, then you work for 10 hours then take another 2 to unplug. That’s the kind of clarinet practicing I did in my 20s – it was maniacal but it got me where I wanted to go.

A rare glimpse at the territorial nature of wolf packs. Instances like this probably happen regularly as wolves aim to maintain/expand their territory and eliminate neighboring wolves (i.e., competitors for resources). These snippets show the breeding pair of the Windsong Pack venturing out of their territory to chase the breeding male of the neighboring pack (the Blood Moon Pack). If the Windsong Pack had caught up to this wolf, they would have undoubtedly killed him. But they didn’t. The chase did not last very long—a handful of minutes with a straight-line distance of just under a mile. The first clips of the chase were from a camera on the edge of a beaver dam. The breeding male of the neighboring pack (Wolf Y1T) crossed the dam and clearly knew he was being followed. A minute later, the Windsong Pack passed by in pursuit. The next clips were captured about 4 minutes later on a second camera just under a mile to the north of the first one. On this second camera, Wolf Y1T was running full speed. However, the Windsong Pack while in pursuit, appeared to be slowing down. A minute later, the Windsong pair walks back past this camera…the chase had ended. About an hour after that, the Windsong Pack crossed the beaver dam that the first camera was on in their return trip to their territory.
