Honourable Members, The Constitution empowers the President to appoint the National Director of Public Prosecutions without stipulating any criteria to that effect. Although there are no requirements in law to do so, I decided to constitute a panel to assist in the process of appointment of the next NDPP, in terms of calling for nominations, shortlisting candidates and interviewing the shortlisted candidates. This is similar to process followed when I appointed the current NDPP, Adv Shamila Batohi. This process is transparent and helps to build public confidence in a critical office. I selected a panel that would combine a variety of skills and experiences. These include public service administration, financial management, legal and jurisprudence, administration of justice, and promotion of equality and human rights. The panel I constituted that includes representatives from the National Executive, Chapter 9 institutions and legal bodies. I chose the heads of certain Chapter 9 institutions for the panel because these are independent bodies established to support and protect South Africa's constitutional democracy, the rule of law and human rights. They are required to always act impartially and subject only to the Constitution and the law, ensuring their decisions are made without fear, favour or prejudice. They are therefore well positioned to understand the qualities and capabilities expected of an NDPP. I have included legal practitioners in the advisory panel so that candidates are evaluated by people with experience in the legal and criminal justice system. In addition to their legal acumen, candidates must be able to demonstrate qualities and capabilities relating to leadership, strategic management, financial management, ethical leadership, and a broad understanding of the justice system. Based on their assessment, the panel will submit a shortlist of recommended candidates to me for consideration and appointment as empowered by the Constitution and the NPA Act. #RamaphosaQandA

The Clark County Election Department is introducing a new step in the in-person voting process in 2026. The check-in process and voting machines (now called ballot marking devices) will remain the same as in recent elections. But now, once a voter makes their selections, they get a printout of their ballot to review before submitting it through the new tabulators. This change aligns with statewide security standards and national best practices. By producing a paper ballot, every voter can easily review their selections before casting their vote. Paper records are then safely stored for audits and recounts if needed.

On March 17, 2026, at approximately 11:38 p.m., Dallas Police responded to a call for service on the Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge regarding a woman who appeared to be in distress. When officers arrived, they found the woman sitting on the side of the bridge, about to jump into the river below. The officers began speaking to the woman, and called for a RIGHT Care team, as well as a swift water rescue team from Dallas Fire-Rescue. The first responders continued talking with the woman for over an hour, keeping physical contact with her until she finally chose to stand up and step back over onto the bridge. The officers immediately embraced her and took her to a local hospital for medical evaluation. The immediate response by these officers, and the compassion and patience they showed, saved this young woman’s life. This investigation is documented under case number 037481-2026.

These videos are disturbing and problematic because: 🚩Mandate of the Women Commission is to conduct counselling and reconciliation and counselling can never be done in the presence of media and youtubers. Counselling must be done with complete privacy and in a respectful and dignified way. Her tone and choice of words are more like of a ruthless dictator than of a counsellor. 🚩She literally disclosed the name and identity of the victim as well as the wife of the CRPF Man in front of the media and public. She even made the phone number of the wife public which we edited from the video. These acts of her are punishable with two years of imprisonment as per BNS section 72 and IPC section 228A. 🚩She was not ready to give any chance to the Man to defend himself and threatening to destroy his family life and take away his livelihood. 🚩She called the wife of the CRPF Man introducing herself as Police. Seems she does not know the difference between Police and Women Commission. 🚩Again this act of her a clear case of impersonation and she may face imprisonment upto 7 years for the same under IPC Sec 418 and 3 years under BNS 204. 🚩Even if the Man is guilty, how can she threat, punish and humiliate his wife and mother for his crime? 🚩And at last she is saying that she will destroy the family life of those Men who were there in a live in relationship at any time. But what about Women? 🚩The way she is conducting the affairs of the State Women Commission is extremely problematic and shocking. We like to request the CMO Haryana to take urgent cognisance of these videos and immediately dismiss the entire team of the Haryana State Commission For Women. They are acting more like an Extortion Gang than Members of a Commission.

Her tone and choice of words are more like of a ruthless dictator than of a counsellor. 🚩She literally disclosed the name and identity of the victim as well as the wife of the CRPF Man in front of the media and public. She even made the phone number of the wife public which we edited from the video. These acts of her are punishable with two years of imprisonment as per BNS section 72 and IPC section 228A. 🚩She was not ready to give any chance to the Man to defend himself and threatening to destroy his family life and take away his livelihood. 🚩She called the wife of the CRPF Man introducing herself as Police. Seems she does not know the difference between Police and Women Commission. 🚩Again this act of her a clear case of impersonation and she may face imprisonment upto 7 years for the same under IPC Sec 418 and 3 years under BNS 204. 🚩Even if the Man is guilty, how can she threat, punish and humiliate his wife and mother for his crime? 🚩And at last she is saying that she will destroy the family life of those Men who were there in a live in relationship at any time. But what about Women? 🚩The way she is conducting the affairs of the State Women Commission is extremely problematic and shocking. We like to request the CMO Haryana to take urgent cognisance of these videos and immediately dismiss the entire team of the Haryana State Commission For Women. They are acting more like an Extortion Gang than Members of a Commission.
