There is no place for this type of political violence in our country — and it has to stop. This violence is leaving scars on all of us, whether they’re physical or emotional. I can attest to that. This is a moral moment. Not a political moment. In fact, by driving a deeper partisan divide at this moment only aggravates tensions and adds to growing grievances. We need leaders to call us together in the difficult tasks of healing; redeeming; expanding empathy and understanding; and ending this growing nightmare of rising political violence. Ugly and opportunistic lies don’t do that. Our nation deserves better. We all must be better.
