EPS has become the embodiment of the saying: “Thaanum padukka maattaar, thalliyum padukka maattaar!” When EPS allotted losing seats to the BJP in an attempt to finish the party for good in Tamil Nadu, he believed he could form an ADMK government with a simple majority and permanently marginalize the BJP as a political force. It backfired spectacularly! Today, he is not even the Leader of the Opposition. After doing virtually nothing for 4½ years as the principal Opposition Leader, he tried to project himself as the primary anti-DMK force and expected people to vote for him purely based on the traditional DMK–ADMK five-year cycle. That backfired too. Vijay emerged as the fulcrum of the anti-DMK movement. After his disastrous defeat, instead of acting like a statesman by supporting Vijay, forming a coalition government, and becoming Deputy Chief Minister, EPS allegedly tried to crawl back to the CM’s chair through backdoor negotiations with the DMK. That too backfired. Nobody trusted him. When his CM ambitions collapsed, he reportedly tried to stop his own MLAs from supporting Vijay during the floor test. That backfired as well. His own MLAs have now abandoned him for good. Yet, EPS still does not seem to realise that he has lost his relevance in Tamil Nadu politics. Perhaps it is a toxic combination of ego, insecurity, and an inability to understand the seismic shift taking place in modern politics and the expectations of Gen Z voters. I think even many of his hardcore supporters may privately admit today that EPS has become the living embodiment of the phrase: “Thaanum padukka maattaar, thalliyum padukka maattaar!”

Norton Member of Parliament Richard Tsvangirai Richard Tsvangirayi has been accused of lying after denying any knowledge of receiving a piece of land from the government in exchange for votes to protect Emmerson Mnangagwa from impeachment and to help him extend his term of office to 2030. Despite his denial, a leaked audio has emerged in which Southerton Member of Parliament Bridget Nyandoro challenges Tsvangirayi to come clean. She accuses him of lying, stating that she has a recording of him engaging with her yesterday morning. Earlier today, Nyandoro accused the opposition of being a cesspool of corruption. Writing on her Facebook page, she claimed that MPs who received US$40,000 bribes in the last Parliament shared the money with their former leader, Nelson Chamisa. She also alleged that some paid to be allowed to contest in the 2023 elections, whose selection was done through the discredited Bereka Mwana method.

Youth groups and activists have led the major protests, calling for his immediate resignation in the first ever protests since 2022, after a ban on mass demonstrations was imposed. A son of the former president of Togo, Gnassingbé Eyademéma, the 59-year old was sworn in after the death of his father in 2005 and has since ruled the nation. In May 2025 after a completion of his 20 years rule in February, he was sworn in as the first president of the Council of Ministers, a powerful role that has no official term limits and described by opposition figures as a ‘constitutional coup’.

Uhuru Kenyatta is referring to a specific community. He says he previously warned the people of Mt. Kenya against electing a leader from that community. The level of tribalism and bitterness he holds toward President Ruto is on another level. This is the same person who, during his tenure, weaponized institutions such as the KRA, EACC, and DCI to deal with his political opponents because he could not govern effectively. He cannot believe the transformation taking place under President Ruto’s leadership. Now that he has come out openly, we will respond to him and remind Kenyans who he truly is.

Bgwende is one of the members of the Constitutional Defence Forum who have been vocal in opposing President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s bid to extend his rule to 2030. According to witnesses, the arsonists arrived in three black cars, ordered the occupants to vacate the house, poured a flammable substance, and set it ablaze. Two police officers are currently on the scene, but the house has been completely destroyed and is now uninhabitable. The seminar room at SAPES, which was meant to be used by a group of civil society and political leaders to launch their resistance against President Mnangagwa’s 2030 term extension, was also torched in the early hours of yesterday and completely gutted to the ground. The attack, coming just hours before the planned press conference, underscores the regime’s growing desperation to silence dissenting voices and suppress any organised opposition to the 2030 agenda. Interestingly, the 2030 Agenda has inadvertently breathed new life into opposition politics in Zimbabwe. Where there was once apathy and fragmentation in response to the country’s political decay, the push for a term extension has now united groups and individuals who were previously divided, bringing together former rivals under a common cause to resist it. In attempting to consolidate power, the regime has instead rekindled political consciousness and solidarity among those determined to defend Zimbabwe’s constitutional order.

It serves as a stark reminder that there is no reason for the people of Mozambique to expect any favors or support from those in power. Dear Citizens of Mozambique, It is deeply troubling that, as citizens of Africa and beyond, we must face the reality that we lack responsible, caring leadership. The upcoming SADC summit, scheduled for November 16th to 20th, will not resolve anything meaningful. The Zimbabwean government, currently the chair of SADC, has opposition politicians languishing in jail. They won’t discuss or resolve issues in favor of the general public, their priority will be to protect each other.
