While SD Mines dropped a 52-50 heartbreaker in a 4 OT shootout against Michigan Tech, Mines’ Redshirt Senior QB Jake Martinelli absolutely balled out! Martinelli completed 39 of 61 passes for 443 yards and 5 TDs and gained another 62 yards on the ground. While Martinelli threw 1 INT, I’ve watched it over and over, and quite simply, the officials got the call wrong. Mines’ Redshirt Junior WR Mason Galbreath was a major contributor to Martinelli’s tremendous game as he pulled in 10 catches for 160 yards and 1 TD. Mines’ Junior WR Colton Grover contributed another 40 receiving yards on 3 catches, 2 of which were for TDs. The defense was led by Senior LB Hunter Newsom, who recorded 7 tackles (5 Solo & 2 Ast), with 3 tackles for a loss. Despite the loss, SD Mines’ offense was impressive! The defense, for a second straight week played great in the 1st half as they held Michigan Tech to just 7 points going into halftime. With the consistence that will come from game time experience and repetition, this team is going to win a lot of games this Fall! Chadron St went into Golden and left with a big 34-28 victory over 21/RV CO Mines, improving their conference record to 2-0! Chadron’s rushing attack came up big for the Eagles, as they racked up an impressive 261 yards on the ground. Dual threat QB Aidan Thompson led the team with 106 rushing yards and 1 rushing TD, while Quincey Ryker also went over the century mark with 101 rushing yards. Along with his 106 rushing yards, Thompson also had 144 passing yards and 3 passing TDs! Chadron’s defense was solid as always, and for the second weekend in a row, the Eagles’ punt and kickoff coverages were impressive! Some may call it an upset, but Chadron St simply calls it another day at the office, beating the #9/#11 Western CO Mountaineers on Saturday (11/8/25) in OT by a score of 27-24. Chadron got it done in all three phases of the game. The Eagles’ offense presented a balanced attack, gaining 111 yards and 2 TDs passing to go along with 148 yards and 1 TD rushing. The Eagles’ defense held the Mountaineers to a mere 38 yards rushing, had 7 tackles for loss, including 3 sacks, and came up with a fumble recovery and 2 interceptions. The most impressive part of Chadron’s team on Saturday had to be its special teams. The Eagles’ special teams blocked two field goal attempts and blocked a punt. Punter Brodie Eisenbraun stuck one punt inside the 5, drew a running into the punter penalty for a 1st down, and had an amazing run off of a high snap, which while it was not a 1st down, it shows what a stud he is. Then there is Kicker Wilson Yee. Yee made an impressive 50 yard FG in the 2nd quarter. Then, in OT, with ice in his veins, Yee made the biggest kick of his collegiate career, drilling a 47 yard FG to give the Eagles the win. Also leading Chadron to the win were: 🏈 DJ Ralph, 10 Cmps on 22 Atts for 111 Yds & 2 TDs; 🏈 Tommy Thomas, 4 Recs for 66 Yds & 2 TDs; 🏈 Logan O’Brien, 10 Tackles (7 Solo & 3 Ast); 🏈 Cooper Walton, 10 Tackles (5 Solo & 5 Ast) with 1 TFL, including 1/2 a Sack; 🏈 Dax Yeradi, 4 Solo Tackles; 🏈 Aiden Kuester, 4 Tackles (1 Solo & 3 Ast) with 1/2 a TFL & 2 INTs, 🏈 William Stemler, 4 Tackles (3 Solo & 1 Ast) with 2 TFLs, including 1 Sack; & 🏈 Ryder True, 3 Tackles (1 Solo & 2 Ast) with 1.5 Sacks. Sometimes I like to look at a player’s “worst game of the year” to see how bad it was (or wasn’t). For WR Caleb Douglas (according to PFF) that was the Arizona State game where he matched up with Keith Abney (R5) all day. This was a good battle between Douglas and Abney. But considering it was supposed to be Douglas’s worst outing, it wasn’t all that bad. Texas Tech lost, despite coming back from a 12 point deficit in the final 6 or 7 minutes to take a 3 point lead, after a successful 2-point conversion made possible by Douglas drawing a hold in the end zone on the first 2-point attempt. Sam Leavitt and Jordyn Tyson worked their magic to go all the way down the field in the final minute and not just kick a tying FG, but actually score the go-ahead TD, leaving Texas Tech attempting a Hail Mary as the clock ran out. Things I noticed during the game: - The backup QB Will Hammond playing in place of Behren Morton had some issues with timing and ball placement. A couple of targets Douglas was open, Hammond missed him. Another one, instead of throwing the vertical Hammond patted the ball an extra beat and it threw off the timing. - I loved Caleb Douglas’s willingness to try and make a difference as a blocker. He got nasty with it. - Caleb had a bad drop. Abney got in there and contacted him and Douglas failed to put the ball away. But it’s interesting because Caleb also had one of the most impressive one-handed stabs you’ll see, on a play nobody noticed or cared about because it was a screen that didn’t break open. - On a lot of plays, if there wasn’t safety help, there was an egregious amount of cushion. This is something you see in a lot of Tech’s games. People had been trying, and frankly failing, to triangulate Douglas’s long speed, to where his 4.39 came as a surprise to some. And then when they’re wrong, the same tired excuse comes out, “He doesn’t play to his timed speed.” But the signs were always there. You had safeties stashed way out in the middle of nowhere to protect corners. You had corners giving 10-12 yards of cushion. - There was a lull where either the ball wasn’t coming Douglas’s way or it was inaccurate when it did, and it lasted nearly half the game. So I was looking for signs of Douglas checking out with his route running. That didn’t happen. He ran his routes hard the entire game. - Douglas dialed it up a notch during the comeback attempt at the end, particularly after the drop. He got wide open on a 3rd down vertical vs. physical coverage with no safety help over top (surviving an unflagged face mask in the process). Then he got open in the end zone twice, one of which forced a hold by Abney that did get flagged. I think the takeaway from me was, you’re playing against a good corner, you have a backup QB in, things don’t go well for you nor the offense for most of the game, but you stay locked in and make a difference at the end, mounting an unlikely comeback. I can see why Jon-Eric Sullivan would like his demeanor.

I joined this Texas Clear Sky Movement because I need to learn a lot more facts about what is going on and what effects whatever is going on is having on Texas. I post this hearing of Texas House State Representative Wes Virdell, TX State Rep 's on his HB 1382 which started out as a bill to eliminate weather modification and changed into one to stop geoengineering spraying in Texas. In this hearing, I, and I think the Texas House members on the panel learned a lot about the issue. My summary of the hearing is that we learned that there are two different programs/activities going on. One is rain enhancement and to a slight extent, hail size reduction activities going on in Texas that is regulated by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR). The rain enhancement activities carried out by the state spray silver iodide into developing thunderclouds in the troposphere (between 5000 and 10,000 feet) in the air with the objective of increasing the rain produced in the clouds. There are 5 or 6 companies/entities licensed to do this in Texas. One representative in the hearing said that his brother living in Oklahoma is noted that rain enhancement into a developing cell in Texas eventually developed into a tornadic system that hit his house with a tornado. He saw the correlation and presumed that the Texas cloud seeding created the tornado that hit his house. The science expert for TDLR did not agree that cloud seeding causes tornadoes. He said it is designed to create more rain. The other activity going on is the stratospheric (several miles high) spaying of aluminum compounds (and maybe barium and strontium based compounds) in the grid patterns. This is called geoengineering. A representative of one of the rain enhancement companies said that this was being done with the objective of reducing global warming by creating a haze that reflects sunlight away from the earth. I am still unclear who is doing the geoengineering spraying. Is it the federal government as the rain enhancement rep said? Or is it privately funded? I have seen a video elsewhere of a former CIA director admitting it is being done. But if it is the feds, what federal entity is doing it? How much fed money is going to do it? When was it authorized, and for what purpose? After TDLR and the entities doing the cloud seeding in Texas (some of whom testified) visited Rep Virdell to tell him about the difference between weather mod/rain enhancement and geoengineering, claiming positive and benign effects of weather modification, Virdell changed his bill to target geoengineering being done instead of any regulated or funded by the state of Texas. The bill by Virdell had the votes to get out of committee and to the House floor, but Chair Dade Phelan (the former speaker of the Texas House and the chair of the committee in the video) refused to hold a vote, so the bill died. BTW, Kerrville is in Wes Virdell's district, and he has been out doing what he can to help in the response to the devastation of the flooding in his district. Note also that the testimony from citizens was primarily targeted at the health and environmental risks associated with spaying heavy metals and silver iodide over Texas. One of the rain production proponents claimed he has never seen a study that says that silver iodide for rain seeding is not safe. But I think I heard one of the witnesses saying that there are studies that are. But, boy, I still have a lot of questions. 1) How do we know that the Texas regulated rain enhancement program is not causing these freak rainstorms? I want to see a lot more science on this. I even think that the question about the enhancement of tornadic activity by cloud seeding that was asked has not been answered to my satisfaction. And I would VERY MUCH like to know if there was any cloud seeding activity that correlates with this most recent flooding episode. 2) Who is doing the geoengineering over Texas? How was it authorized? What chemicals are they using? What health and environmental studies have been done on whatever they are spaying? 3) What studies have been done on the impacts on weather (and rain production and tornadic impact) from the geoengineering going on that takes into account the combination of BOTH Texas weather mod activity AND geoengineering spraying? (This is kind of like asking whether there have ever been any safety studies on the combination of all the vaccines being recommended for children, nowadays. It is possible that one activity by itself does not do any harm, but a combination of multiple factors does.) I argued in the hearing that we need a stop to all of this until the people of Texas have had time to have input into what is being sprayed on them and what the health, environmental, and weather impacts are on them using unbiased, special-interest free studies. Despite all these things, the disrespect is still there. Analysts are leaving him completely off their Top-10 CFB QB lists and even Top-5 Big Ten QB rankings. They’re hyping up unproven freshmen like Bryce Underwood and Malik Washington, or guys with minimal starts like Julian Sayin, over a proven QB1 like Altmyer. Even QBs who haven’t matched his production—Nico Iamaleava, Dante Moore, and Dylan Raiola—are getting more shine. And get this: some NFL Draft sites don’t even list Altmyer as a prospect but have Hank Brown and Malachi Singleton on their boards. Are you kidding me? This is the same Luke Altmyer who turned down a massive NIL deal to jump ship to Tennessee—a CFP team last year—because he’s loyal to Illinois and believes in the Illini Luke stayed in Champaign to finish what he started. That’s a 2025 Wooden Citizen Cup nominee and a leader who walks the walk. The Big Ten is stacked, but Altmyer’s one of the top returning QBs alongside Drew Allar. The hype around untested 5-stars is always high and they'll get their shine this season. But Altmyer’s 35 career TD passes (tied for 9th in Illini history), clutch gene, and third year in Lunney’s system make him a game changer.
