And I also find it pretty sad. These students appear to feel no warmth towards past generations of Australians. It’s like they are saying “they weren’t my ancestors, so I don’t care.” It’s very shallow and disrespectful. My ancestors weren’t present at the Federation of Australia, but I don’t call for the flag to be changed because of that fact. I don’t view those people and this history with cold indifference simply because they were from a different ethnic background to me. Unfortunately high levels of migration have opened up a distinct break in Australian history and culture, where many children of migrants sadly exhibit feelings of cold indifference towards the people who founded the nation. And then the publicly funded national broadcaster weaponises this for leftist political agitation. If left wingers want to understand why Pauline Hanson has seen a massive surge in the polls over the past year, this kind of relentlessly negative campaigning by the ABC and the high priests of elite left wing culture is a big reason why. There’s just constant race baiting against Australians of British heritage and constant attempts to radically redefine the entire history and identity of Australia to erase the contributions of the majority.
