We added a device tool bar to the Codex in-app browser, so it's easier to build and test responsive apps! Now, you can have Codex test your app in different dimensions, so it can fix bugs & improve UI for every device. Just click the 3 dots on the... show more

Codex is really a new way to build

please use it on Windows. It's broken beyond usable. node_repl installs on different path because of Microsoft store installation. and it keeps failing. browser use is completely unusable on Windows

totally hear you! most of us are on Mac, but we are starting to get more Windows devices for the team to test better

thank you! love what you're doing on codex. it has completely replaced cursor for me. i want to see it better day by day too!

Please, add the DevTools inside (not in external window)!

Working on it!!

I would kill for the ability to manually tweak padding, text, etc. As a designer there are so many instances when I just want to tweak something manually to see the difference

Tell me more! What would you + others want to see in a "design mode"?

Depends on how far you want to run with it, but I would love a canvas view where I could see the full flow of all the pages/screens of my design. Ability to adjust padding, margin, spacing, type adjustments, able to drag elements to an absolute position then lock them in

@OpenAIDevs Can the in-app browser be added as a separate window? Having it embedded together is very unfriendly for laptop users.

That’s awesome! Can you please add extensions support to hook up 1Password?

Genius. Annotating in codex is a game changer. Slight bug though if I go super OCD nitpicky and give like 30+ annotations even if theyre small sometimes the context blows up and I lose the entire session (can’t compact to recover). Fix in future?

i just wanna let you know that the IAB update to codex a week or two ago was what finally had me move 100% to codex. and in the span of like, one week? the feature set on it has grown so fast. amazing amazing work.

@OpenAIDevs > added a way to hide the composer in full screen mode Thank you

@OpenAIDevs You did't add safe area for iPhone/iPad.

Our biggest need right now is for Codex on iOS

@OpenAIDevs 👏 So, can the agent set a specific viewport resolution by himself now?

@OpenAIDevs Not yet! You have to change it for now, but agent will be able to drive the viewport changes next week

@OpenAIDevs Awesome, keep cooking, thnx!

Updated Codex today and noticed the file tree is gone. Has this been deprecated or is a better version coming? It’s a key feature for coding workflows—really hope it’s not removed. Any clarification? --thanks

Hm can't find it..

mall government agency AI evangelist, trying, unsuccessfully, to bring a state government agency into a future that's already here. help! send help!

feature requests: - support passkeys (Touch ID) web auth - support file downloads

Working on both of these!

one more feature request: - diff view for markdown files

Thank you for adding mobile support! Big help! You guys rock! I just mentioned it a week ago. Crazy how fast you move.

Curious about device toolbar fidelity — viewport resize catches layout, but mobile-only quirks (iOS scroll-bounce, focus-zoom, touch) need UA flip + touch emulation. If those are wired in, this beats Chrome devtools' device mode.

Why am I hearing about this on X, and not in some sort of release notes in the app?

This is one of those boring controls that matters a lot. If Codex can check the ugly middle widths itself, the review loop gets much less annoying.

Device toolbar + speed boost in one update. Nice work to the team on this one.

@OpenAIDevs 🔥

@OpenAIDevs Please get rid of an extremely annoying Branch details pop up that shows up when the cursor is near the left side of the app window. It even blocks sending prompts and it's completely useless. This was introduced a day or two ago.

Oh this is excellent, was looking for that

someone never decided to test it

Ooooh this is awesome

@sound4movement That’s awesome. Thank you 🙏

love it! need multiple persistent browser tabs for each chat, this would bring my Chrome usage to nearly zero

Does this work with local dev environments too, or just deployed apps? Been running into responsive issues with my Next.js builds that only show up on certain screen sizes.

now this 🔥🔥🔥

Testing across device sizes inside the same tool makes responsive work much easier.

Really useful thank you

finally a real device toolbar instead of just more fake speed bumps. 30% faster is nice but i need actual touch targets that don't lag

This feature tells a bigger story - AI coding tools are becoming full dev environments, not just code generators. Testing is where the real intelligence shows.

This is great
