NEW: The Senate is on the verge of passing the "Protect College Sports Act" after lobbying from Amazon, Disney, Paramount and more. The bill would cap player compensation, but fails to address massive coach salaries, buyouts, or private equity. Actual college athletes have been left out of the process, so while the NCAA would get an anti-trust exemption, players wouldn't get a seat at the table. We talked to Stanford football players to learn more.

Protecting women’s sports and Olympic sports is a huge part of the Protect College Sports Act. We’ve built an amazing bipartisan coalition of athletes, coaches, and senators to save the institution of college sports. The Senate has now cleared a key procedural hurdle, with 74 senators voting to support moving to the bill. It’s time for the Senate to finish the job and pass the Protect College Sports Act, ensuring President Trump can sign the bill on College GameDay this fall. College sports cannot afford more uncertainty.

The NCAA is bracing for “blind transfers,” where a player transfers without ever entering the portal. 🤯 👉 With the spring portal window gone, the NCAA expects more of these moves and is discussing major penalties for schools that take them, including a 6-game head coach suspension, fines tied to the football budget, and loss of roster spots. But how can these penalties be enforced when the current contracts do not employ players to be athletes? They are just NIL deals… 🤷‍♂️ Thats’s why at Athletes.org we’re building the first players association for college athletes, because the only way to fix this is to give the athletes the seat at the table that they deserve. 🤝
