I'm an artist, and for a long time now, my work has been about catching viral words and cultural moments that define our time and turning them into art. Visiting Shenzhen China 🇨🇳 today and wow! There is no way someone can stand here and not be inspired by how much China has changed in the past 3 decades 🤯 There is not another city on the planet that has transformed the way Shenzhen has, once a fishing village of 25,000 people, it’s now home to 18 million people and the hub of tech and innovation in China 🇨🇳 This is the DJI headquarters, that’s right, the company that has emerged as the number one drone company in the world is based in this building Over 8,000 employees spread across offices, R&D Centers and testing facilities. This is honestly one of the most impressive buildings I’ve ever seen The British Trade Minister just visited Shenzhen for the FIRST time in 40 years last week and just think, how many politicians around the world could understand where China is and where it is going if they simply came and saw the truth with their own eyes. To borrow a phrase from my friend and China insider Shaun Rein the next China is China! 🚀

Today I visited this culturally innovative place called Ewaffe Cultural Village Ewaffe Cultural Village in Naggalama village. Visitors typically spend a full day there, where they are practically taken through cultural activities like barkcloth making, preparing local food (kuwaata, luwombo, kusaaniika…), making banana juice (omubissi), fetching water, brick making, fishing, growing and using herbs, ekyooto kya ssenga ne kojja … It is not only a wonderful innovation for cultural education, but also for cultural entrepreneurship where the community is involved and also benefits from the initiative. It is particularly inspiring that the proprietor is a young lady who set out with a B-Com degree, scanty resources and a dream only a year and a half ago. It is a place I would encourage parents who would want their children to learn about Baganda culture to visit. I was impressed! They deserve this shout out.
