We are fighting against a terrible enemy, one that cannot be called human and is infinitely far from true Christianity. Its essence is ruins, and the death it brings is something we must overcome. Ukraine is marking anniversaries: the adoption of the Constitution, the establishment of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the restoration of our state symbols and the hryvnia. And the culmination of all this is August 24, 2026 – Independence Day of Ukraine, the 35th anniversary of its restoration. It is important that in such a year, Ukraine is giving rise to new, landmark elements of its state-building. Today, I submitted to Parliament a law on the Ukrainian National Pantheon. The names of all the heroes who, across different centuries and eras, fought for Ukraine and inspired Ukraine will be brought together and forever inscribed in our history – with a capital letter, with great respect and attention from the state. We are closer to peace than ever during the war, but at the same time we cannot be sure whether Russia is ready for peace. Peace is most often a compromise, and we must prepare for the fact that all parts of a peace agreement will likely not meet our sense of justice. However, we will do everything we can to ensure that Ukraine’s independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity are preserved. Ukraine is part of a free and democratic Europe now and in the future. We will continue to support Ukraine, we will not tire, and together with our allies we will ensure that Russia will never again attack its neighbor.

We are defending Ukraine, our independence, our future – and in doing so, we in Ukraine are defending our Europe. A Europe of which Ukraine has been and will remain a part. From the first days of the full-scale war until today, Europe has stood with Ukraine. And this is not charity – it is a choice made by Europeans: to stand on the same side as the brave and the strong – the Ukrainians who are fighting today for peace and true protection against tyranny, not only for themselves, but for the entire continent. And every night, our people endure shelling, missile attacks, ballistic missile and Shaded strikes. And every day, our people lose someone close to them. And our people really, really want this war to end. We are, of course, made of steel, but even the strongest metal can give way. Don't forget that. Stand with Ukraine, stand with our people. And therefore, stand with dignity and freedom.
