Attended and addressed at the inauguration of the National Startup Day 2025 program in Mumbai today, showcasing Maharashtra's dominance in the startup sector and announcing transformative initiatives for its future. Virtually inaugurated two groundbreaking facilities: the Digital Media Center of Excellence established by Hewlett-Packard India at ITI Govandi and the Model Career Center at ITI Palghar, at the event. Under the visionary leadership of Hon PM Narendra Modi Ji, the Startup India initiative has transformed India’s entrepreneurial ecosystem. Grateful to Hon PM Modi Ji for launching the Startup India Policy in 2016, the number of startups in India has grown exponentially from 471 to an impressive 1,57,000. Of these, over 26,000 startups hail from Maharashtra, solidifying the state’s position as the ‘Startup Capital of India’. Remarkably, Maharashtra also leads the nation with the highest number of women-led startups, thanks to its women-centric policies. In just one year, startup investments in Maharashtra have seen an unprecedented 154% growth. Expressed confidence that with this momentum, India will soon leap from being the 3rd-largest to the world’s leading startup ecosystem. Highlighting Maharashtra's focus on grassroots innovation, outlined initiatives such as tax incentives, fast-tracked patent applications, and affordable internet to support startups in tier-2 and tier-3 cities. Also emphasized plans to establish an AI Center of Excellence in collaboration with public and private universities, aiming to create a future-ready ecosystem for AI-driven startups. Major Announcements to Boost Startups in Maharashtra: ▪️₹200 Crore Fund of Funds: In partnership with SIDBI, a financial institution, to fuel startup growth. ▪️Innovation City: Plans to establish a cutting-edge hub of innovation and entrepreneurship in Maharashtra. ▪️India’s Most Modern Startup Policy: A progressive and forward-thinking policy to adapt to the rapidly evolving startup ecosystem. At the 12th IPU Conference in Samarkand, I spoke for India in the session on “Ensuring Political Rights for Women.” Under the leadership of Hon’ble PM, India is moving from women’s development to women-led development: record female voter participation, 1.45 million women elected at the grassroots, and a constitutional path to one-third women representation in our legislatures. India’s message is simple: Don’t just ask women to vote. Enable them to govern. Don’t just give them a seat. Give them authority. Don’t just speak of empowerment. Make it irreversible.

People often ask why our Prime Minister is the true Startup PM. For me, the answer goes back to January 2016. At the Startup India launch, Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji quipped, “Why didn’t a chaiwala think of starting a hotel chain?” That single line was not just a remark, it was a mindset shift. It told millions of young Indians that ideas matter more than background. Over the next decade, that belief was backed by action. Startup India simplified regulations, enabled access to capital, and created confidence across the ecosystem. Someone in the USA joined a startup. Someone in Asia invested. Someone else chose to guide founders as a board member. It did not matter whether it was ours or hundreds of others. Those hundreds became lakhs of startups and millions of jobs. Within this ecosystem, PRISM grew into a global hospitality network across 35 plus countries. For me, coming from a small town in Odisha with nothing but a big dream, this journey has truly come full circle. Now in 2026, I feel the same wonder and responsibility I felt in 2016. The Prime Minister’s ability to remember people and stories, like recalling Suchi from Limeroad years later, is a reminder of genuine engagement. As we mark 10 years of Startup India, this is not just PRISM’s success. It is India’s. And the journey has only just begun. MyGovIndia Startup India

PM Narendra Modi has a phenomenal memory. On 16th Jan, 2016, when we launched Startup India only Startup founders were seated with PM on the dias. Suchi Mukherjee, founder of Limeroad had shared her mother's apprehensive reaction to her startup ambitions, encapsulated in the word "sarvanash," meaning disaster. This anecdote was recounted by the PM today at Startup Mahakumbh. From a modest beginning with around 150 startups in 2016, India has burgeoned into the world's third-largest startup ecosystem, boasting over 125,000 startups, including more than 115 unicorns with a combined valuation exceeding $350 billion. Steered by PM Narendra Modi's foresight & vision and fueled by the innovative spirit of India's youth, this growth marks a departure from skepticism to an era where entrepreneurship is celebrated and pursued by the nation's brightest minds. This journey from "sarvanash" to “safalta” (success) encapsulates the essence of India's startup revolution.

I join India’s energy fraternity in celebrating the 66th foundation day of Indian Oil Corp Ltd, India’s energy Maharatna and a leading OMC. In recent years, when global uncertainties and supply chain disruptions tested our resolve, IndianOil, along with other OMCs, ensured interrupted supply of fuel and LPG through difficult terrain and weather conditions to every region across the country. As India marches ahead to become the world’s third-largest economy under the decisive and visionary leadership of PM Sh Narendra Modi Ji, IndianOil is making significant contributions to India’s quest towards energy security and green transition by expanding refining capacity, scaling up city-gas networks, and investing in hydrogen, biofuels, and EV infrastructure to build a secure and sustainable energy future. On this IndianOil Day, I salute IOCians for their relentless service to the nation. They are the true energy behind India’s growth and aspirations. #WATCH | Delhi: At the inaugural ceremony of the NIELIT-Infineon Centre of Excellence, Jochen Hanebeck, CEO of Infineon Technologies, says, "I think it's a crucial building block. We all want to build up the Indian semiconductor ecosystem, and the ecosystem is about innovation, but it's also about manufacturing. I think this is a great building block in building up talent. The semiconductor industry is very, very complex, so it's very difficult to jump into it and we need to prepare. The most important, as always, are the people, and therefore we are very happy to contribute in that sense. Absolutely, everybody is looking at India. It is among the big economies and the fastest-growing, and that always offers opportunities. That's true for many industries, but also for the semiconductor industry. We are expecting to grow our revenue here in India, with more than 1,000 customers by now, by about 30% over the next years, every year. We are also building up our footprint. We have major sites in Bengaluru, Ahmedabad and Hyderabad, in addition to various sales offices. We have, as a matter of fact, increased our workforce in India by almost 30% over the last one and a half years. We are engaging in the innovation space. We are teaming up with Startup India. We are in the process of acquiring an Indian startup called C2I. So you see lots of activities in how we benefit from the ecosystem in India, but also how we can contribute to build up this ecosystem..."

I have always been a firm advocate for women's inclusion in governance and decision-making. My commitment to gender equality is unwavering because I believe that a society thrives when women are actively involved in shaping policies and leading initiatives. It is imperative that we take legislative action to secure women's participation in politics. One of the key steps toward this goal is mandating that party delegate selections include women, this is not just about fairness; it is about ensuring that the voices of half our population are heard in leadership spaces. Beyond policy discussions, I have consistently highlighted the challenges women face within governmental structures. Many women in leadership positions hesitate to speak up, often out of fear or societal pressure. This must change. We need structural reforms, including the creation of special seats for women and the enforcement of laws that guarantee at least 35% representation in governance. We must break down entrenched gender stereotypes and cultural barriers that have kept women on the sidelines for too long. At the 69th Session of the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women (CSW69), global leaders—including UN Secretary-General António Guterres—reaffirmed the need for more women in leadership. The UN has made significant strides in achieving gender parity among senior leadership by expanding the search for qualified women, proving that when given the opportunity, women lead with excellence and impact. My participation in the Nigeria Women’s Day event at CSW69 is yet another step in my relentless advocacy for gender equality. The fight for inclusion is not just about women—it is about building a more just and prosperous society for all. I will continue to push for systemic change, and I encourage every Nigerian woman to take up space, raise her voice, and claim her rightful place in governance. Together, we can make a difference, not just in Nigeria but on the global stage. Ireti Kingibe, Senator representing the Federal Capital Territory (FCT)
