Add low humidity and increasing afternoon winds, and you have conditions primed for wildfire growth. The National Weather Service expects humidity to fall sharply this afternoon as southwest winds increase, with gusts potentially reaching 20–25 mph. Officials continue to report 0% containment, with hundreds of firefighters and additional resources working the fire. This dry brush tells the story. It doesn’t take much for fire to find fuel here. We’re outside Reno with continuing coverage on The Weather Channel.
