Rep. Kim is right—China’s chokehold on critical supply chains is a national security time bomb. The FIGHT China Act of 2025 (S.1053) proves Beijing’s infiltration goes beyond consumer goods: 80% of U.S. port cranes are Chinese-made with embedded modems for espionage, per Axios. Meanwhile, China’s defense industrial base outpaces ours 5:1 in weapons production and holds 230x our shipbuilding capacity (CSIS). The Biden era’s offshoring left us vulnerable, but current efforts are reversing this: $1T in private manufacturing investments since 2021, semiconductor reshoring via CHIPS Act, and tariffs to counter Beijing’s dumping. Dependency isn’t an option—crushing their non-market overreach and accelerating domestic production is the only path to security.
