We captured this beautiful moment as Egejurum Onyedikachi and Don-Anele Munachimso arrived at Sam Mbakwe Airport, Owerri, yesterday to a true hero's welcome. These are not football stars. They are not musicians. They are not politicians. They are children. Children who became the world's best in Mathematics in the... Primary and Senior categories. Don-Anele Munachimso is also the world's best in Science. The last literary figures from the South East to receive this kind of heroic public welcome were Chinua Achebe and Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie. Watching our brightest young minds being celebrated like national heroes gives me hope. For too long, we have celebrated almost everything except academic excellence. That is beginning to change. Education is reclaiming its rightful place in our society, and a generation of children is growing up believing that knowledge, hard work and excellence deserve standing ovations too. This is bigger than two children. This is the beginning of a movement.show more

The society we abuse today will eventually take its toll on our children, because they will only learn by our example. Everything we are experiencing in our country today is a reflection of the decay of civility and orderliness. When we choose to conduct both our public and personal lives with bad behaviour and rascality, we normalise bad behaviour, lawlessness, and criminality. I watched a heartbreaking video that showed students in Auchi Polytechnic in Edo State running for their lives as they were being shot at during their student election yesterday which left 2 students dead and several injured. The question is: Where did they learn it from? Are they cursed, or are we the political leaders who are cursed? When we have chosen to "fight, snatch it, grab it, and run with it" how can we expect our children to do it rightly and democratically when they have learned from us? This is not just disgraceful, it’s a national indictment. When we, the leaders, have chosen to fight, snatch, grab and run with it, our children have learned similar and rascality is now a normal situation. It is now up to us, the leaders, to learn how to restore civility, order, and core values in our society by ensuring that our character and behaviour reflect the change we seek in our society. We must do better, for our students, for our children, and for our country. A New Nigeria is POssible. -PO

🚨 Heads up, Utah — this is not okay. 🚨 The UEA is creating an “Equity Ambassador” program for teachers to “advance racial and social justice work in public schools.” They are pushing to lead "systemic change" on how and what our kids are being taught. Our children deserve classrooms devoted to learning — math, science, reading, writing, history, etc. — not political indoctrination. And this is just part of a larger national issue. As a father of an educator, I know this is not who our teachers are, so why are we letting the union take control? ❗️Let me be blunt: Schools are for education, not agendas. An Open Letter to the Federal Government of Nigeria Dear Government of Nigeria, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, FM Education, @EduMinNG, This is not written out of anger alone. It is written out of disappointment, concern, and hope. Today, brilliant young Nigerians including Don Anele Munachimso Marvelous, Victor Onwubiko, and Egejurum Onyedikachi are representing our country at the International STEM Olympiad finals. These students are carrying Nigeria's flag on a global stage. Yet, many Nigerians have noticed little or no visible public encouragement from the institutions that should be celebrating them. Whether they return with gold, silver, or bronze, they have already achieved something extraordinary simply by qualifying to compete among the world's brightest young minds. It is worth acknowledging the role of Alex Onyia Alex Onyia , Founder and CEO of Educare, whose support and advocacy have helped make opportunities like this possible for these students. Citizens stepping up to support education deserves recognition but it should complement, not replace, institutional support. When a nation celebrates excellence, more young people aspire to excellence. When exceptional students are overlooked, we unintentionally send the message that academic achievement is less valued than it should be. Nigeria has no shortage of talent. What we often lack is a consistent national culture of recognizing and supporting that talent. Imagine what it would mean if: - The Presidency publicly wished these students success before they competed. - The Federal Ministry of Education highlighted their journey. - Government officials welcomed them home regardless of the outcome. - STEM champions received scholarships, research opportunities, and long-term mentorship. It is about national priorities. This isn’t a new story of injustice; it’s the same story told with new names. A 15-year-old Black girl, Latasha Harlins, was killed and her shooter walked. Decades later, 14-year-old Cyrus Carmack Belton is killed and the man who shot him walks too. The law has shown us, over and over, that when the victim is a Black child, accountability becomes optional. We are not simply mourning; we are indicting a system that protects those who kill our children while criminalizing our communities for far less. These cases are not tragic misunderstandings; they are the logical outcome of a justice system that has decided our lives are negotiable. In Latasha’s name, in Cyrus’ name, we will challenge these verdicts in the court of public opinion and in the courts of law. We will keep telling this story until the system is forced to change because Black children deserve more than hashtags and hindsight; they deserve justice in real time.

From 2027, Zimbabwe will require every school without exception to register its learners for ZIMSEC examinations. The era of parallel foreign examination systems operating outside our national framework is over. It's mandatory for all students to write ZIMSEC. However, schools wishing to offer both ZIMSEC and Cambridge should apply for permission to do so provided there is justification for it. This is not an attack on academic excellence. We are not banning Cambridge examinations .This is an assertion of national sovereignty over our own Education System. Zimbabwe's children deserve to be assessed on a common, uniform standard one that this government controls, benchmarks, and continuously improves. For too long, a two-tier system has told some children that their futures are validated in Cambridge and told others that ZIMSEC is somehow second best. That ends now. Private institutions operating on Zimbabwean soil have a clear directive: align with the national framework. This is not negotiable. Government policy is unambiguous comply or fall out of step with the direction this Republic is moving. We are building one education system. One standard. One Zimbabwe. Every child regardless of the school they attend or the uniform they wear deserves equal recognition under a national framework that belongs to all of us.All School Kids are the same.

Beyond disgusted at the length French TV pundits go to to justify the murder of children. Listening to Céline Pina it's almost as if Palestinian children need to thank the IDF for killing them. Listen to this, it's absolutely unreal: "Crimes against humanity and war crimes are not a matter of degree, but of nature. In other words, a bomb that explodes, causing destruction and collateral damage, will undoubtedly kill children. But these children will not die with the impression that humanity has betrayed everything they were entitled to expect. This is where the crime against humanity lies, in the absolute negation. Two years ago, as the Russians retreated, they kidnapped 48 children. None of them were even three years old. Most of these children were forcibly relocated deeper into occupied territory — to Crimea — while others were deported to Russia. Ukrainian children are not toys, although it seems that for Russian elites and officials they are. Behind each of these children is a life that must not be lost, a future that must not be ruined. We must do everything in our power to bring Ukrainian children back home. I am grateful to our partners who stand with us in this effort and continue to help. #BringKidsBack
