We crossed the point where simple PCBs can we fully vibed. This was done by Opus 5.5 last night. I've hand picked the components and give it overall vision. After some refinement this is the result. It's at a point that it can be manufactured. Haven't decided if it... show more

We can only get away with this because USB2.0 is so resilient to abuse 🙃

What do you mean?

Right angles, stubs and separation for a diffpair. Probably not gonna affect much on a small distance and low frequency, but it pains.

Awesome, I can't wait to do my first custom PCB for my robot, game changer, I won't miss dupont connectors, ferules and screw terminals 😂

vibe code bug: redeploy. vibe pcb bug: another two weeks waiting on a package from shenzhen

It does assume the user (me) is capable of reviewing the work.

Yeah we have made about a dozen boards . Now working on replacement motherboards for a classic Sony laptop

This is a tentative 3rd product in the @SidePulse at agent status monitor lineup. This time with USB-C.

You'd have to put a full hub chip on it - but if it was passthrough, you could maybe put it inline - for example plugged into a usb keyboard cable.

having it pass through is a good idea. and would work for keyboards... The reason for the strange connector position is to hide the jack and it allows routing the cable in a way that it's not visible. but I'm on a fence with this one, maybe a simple thin stick would be better.

This looked better in my had than what claude did. Look's awkward.

I wonder if it can be thin enough to have an extended "dot" form factor, with 8 leds. So you could use it flush with a computer/port like the Pro, or with a cable with a male-male adapter 🤔

I was thinking about this, but the lever would be too long and easy to break. Otherwise, extending the Dot is easy. just extend in one direction and add more leds

Yeah… and I have good reason to believe the labs have now added PCB layout/design and MechE tasks to their RL environments, so we will see similar rapid improvements in the coming models (like we saw recently for graphics and 3D).

Claude and ChatGPT approach it differently, but both arrive to similar results.

'fully vibed' on hardware is the line that made me do a double take. a pcb you can't hotfix with a deploy feels like the last place you'd trust the model. what did you still hand-check

We are trying to generally solve this, and make it interesting

repurpose alpha zero or alpha fold. should work

Oh Peter- we’re vibing waay more than simple PCBs now

what are you Vibing?

Agree. I’ve been playing with this and we are definitely in the world where a small PCBs can be AI generated with careful review. Layout and routing is the challenge still on larger boards.

So this makes it "relatively" easy to build custom hardware?

Relatively. It's one of the easiest steps in the whole process. the time suck are refinements and details. but this is in a state that I can click order and I'll receive an assembled board that will likely work. (this board is super simple though, with plenty of space to route things)

There is still room for speed improvement

Where does one go to get these printed?

Manufacturable doesn't mean it won't smoke on first power

yeah amazing

At my first job this is all I needed for testing SMT connectors, crazy how fast the AI has evolved. I struggled with schematic capture, custom PCB foorprints, and routing. Now it's done in a couple prompts.

@mattinglot was just saying yesterday how he got a bunch of vibe'd PCBs manufactured

This I can agree on

Well, I'd like try it but my PCBs end up way more complicated than this. I hope it works for complex boards with trace ant's and such. Going to give it a shot.

it failed on a denser board.

How to do that? Are you directly promoting on claude desktop?

Where would you get it built for a one off?

Wondering if 3-D printing PCB boards become more popular with AI design

感觉氛围PCB的走线错误还是很多,感觉还是不太可靠

May I know how you AI generated a PCB?? I have an existing kicad PCB that I would like AI to improve. Asked this question to many EE and nothing so far..

just asked claude to do it. i have kicad and easyeda pro installed

So did it use an MCP or just using computer use?

it built a bridge into easyeda using an extension it built

Damn... AI moving like that now days?
