German MEP Petr Bystron points to one of the most controversial statements made by former EU Commissioner Thierry Breton following the annulment of Romania's presidential election. Speaking about enforcement of European rules, Breton said words translated as: “We did it in Romania, and we will obviously do it if necessary in Germany.” Bystron's interpretation is explosive. If romanian democracy falls, the entire world democratic system is at risk. Romania is part of EU, NATO and is one of the most important allies of the US in the Eastern Europe. If international community just stays indiferrent and enjoys the horrible political show that is playing now in Romania, this will leed to an international legal precedent where a constitutional court will take the power of the vote from the people and give it always to the politicians. That will be the end of democracy as we know it, world wide. EU are you watching? US are you listening?
