2020 COLLECTION: 5 YEARS LATER - DAY3 OOF. at this point it was pretty clear Duncan and Griffin at NiftyGateway that one person was winning every single auction. There were still 10 more to go on this Sunday... At the very last second of the final auction, a extremely last second bid cam in taking the total from about $350k to $777k, destroying the record for the most expensive NFT ever bought. you can see the disbelief in the video as we were sure the auction was over. but our boi tim.eth ⁙ illestrater came through at the last second clinching single W against the insane performance that Metakovan had built over the last two days winning every other auction. i was fully a pile of mush at this point, trying to wrap my head around how I had just sold $3.5M worth of this 'thing' that almost nobody I knew understood and I had only learned of less than 2 months earlier. but the real people who made this event possible are Metakovan and tim.eth ⁙ illestrater and i really don't think they get enough credit for the insane belief and conviction this took. their actions over this weekend literally changed the course of art history. little did i know that as fucking INSANE as this was... it was actually just the beginning. 😅

The EA has allowed invasive species like Himalayan Balsam to spread out of control, with no plan whatsoever to even contain this damaging plant, let alone eliminate it from our river. Every year that the plant is allowed to spread, the problem gets worse & harder to solve, with the rare marshes along the river now at seriously damaged & risking destruction. Local volunteers have stepped up to act where they have failed, organising small groups on WhatsApp to take responsibility for different sections of the river & destroy as many of the plants as possible before they set seed. Over this last summer alone, there have been dozens of events, where volunteers have walked & waded along the river to laboriously remove these plants. The EA has offered us no support whatsoever in this massive & important task.

BREAKING: France has just raised their national terror threat level to the highest level possible due to possible threats from ISIS. This follows the massive ISIS (Not Ukrainian) attack on Moscow this weekend. Call me crazy but I seem to remember Trump claiming to have "Destroyed ISIS". “We defeated 100% of the ISIS Caliphate and no longer have any troops in the area under attack by Turkey, in Syria. We did our job perfectly!” he tweeted. Then-White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders on March 22 used the phrase on Air Force One, telling reporters that the ISIS self-declared caliphate had been “100 percent eliminated.”

Strait of Hormuz over the last 24 hours: too deep into the escalation trap or the cycle of stupid. The events over the past week should start to dissuade anyone from contemplating that the Strait of Hormuz is going back to normal anytime soon. The video from MarineTraffic illustrates that clearly with Iran's lane being the only active one. Today, IRGC said that 4 vessels were halted, while the US is saying that's fake. No one knows what's real anymore, but what is real is that shipowners will be reluctant to take the risk. He said, she said isn't good enough anymore when lives are at risk. We are now firmly in Robert A. Pape's escalation trap and Malcolm Nance's cycle of stupid. It is clear and obvious the US cannot give Iran the control of the Strait of Hormuz because it will make it the most powerful oil producer in the world. And since this conflict is all or nothing, we will either have to topple the regime, or Iran will come out victorious. There's no in-between. Let's see how this weekend goes, but from a flow perspective, nothing is going through. Zero barrels went through on July 17 and the last two days have not been revised higher by Kpler.

A Nairobi man is seeking help in tracing two women suspected of drugging and robbing him of valuables worth over Ksh 700,000 after he invited the suspects to his residence following a night out last weekend in Ongata Rongai, Kajiado County. According to available information and CCTV footage, one of the women was seen stepping outside to conduct what appears to be surveillance, while her accomplice allegedly packed the stolen items inside the house. The suspects made away with a silver Apple MacBook Pro 16-inch, an iPhone 14 Pro Max, an iPod Pro Max, a pair of Apple AirPods Max headphones, and KSh 52,000 which was transferred from the victim’s M-PESA account to a phone number that has since been switched off. The footage shows the two women leaving the premises at around 2:55 PM on Saturday while carrying bags believed to contain the stolen items. The victim was reportedly unconscious inside the apartment at the time of the theft. He is now appealing to the public for assistance in identifying the two suspects, hoping that the CCTV footage will prompt anyone with useful information to come forward.

Strait of Hormuz over the last 24 hours: Oman lane is active? Over the last 7 days, Kpler tracked 18 tankers exiting the Strait of Hormuz, 5 related to Iran. Average volume of 1.861 million b/d. In the video from MarineTraffic, you can see that at the beginning, there was a bulk carrier called Supra Baron that tried going through the Oman lane and then turning around. A few vessels took the Iran lane shortly after. But more interestingly, as I'm writing this post, there are two tankers that are about to go through the Oman lane: Rotterdam Energy, a VLCC, and Gaslog Shanghai, an LNG tanker. Rotterdam Energy turned off its AIS about an hour ago, so it's in the process of transiting now. Is the Oman lane active again? Or will IRGC enforce control again? If IRGC makes a move, then all the bombing the US did was create temporary enforcement vacuums in place for tankers to transit. This is clearly unsustainable in the long-run. I guess we will find out soon enough.

Today, our hearts are heavy. 💔 Rambo, a beloved pet dog and a familiar face around our kitchen compound, has crossed the Rainbow Bridge. For the last two years, Rambo was a regular visitor. He would often come by, greet everyone with his gentle presence, and enjoy his meals. He was deeply loved by an elderly lady from the nearby neighborhood who cared for him like family. A few days ago, Rambo suddenly stopped eating and became very weak. His guardian sought our help, as it was difficult to understand the seriousness of his condition initially. We immediately took him to the veterinary hospital, where X-rays and scans revealed a heartbreaking reality. His lungs had severe fluid accumulation, and the veterinarians informed us that his chances of survival were extremely low. Despite the odds, treatment continued for three days. The veterinary team did everything they could. A procedure was performed to remove the accumulated fluid, and for a brief moment, we hoped he would recover. But sometimes, despite all efforts, love, prayers, and treatment are not enough. A day after the procedure, sweet Rambo left us. His passing is a painful reminder of how important early detection and timely medical intervention can be. Animals cannot tell us when they are suffering, and often by the time symptoms become visible, it may already be too late. We are deeply saddened that we could not save him. We ensured that Rambo received a dignified burial, surrounded by the love and respect he deserved. Run free, sweet boy. Thank you for every visit, every wag of your tail, and every beautiful memory you gave us over the last two years. You were loved. You will be missed. And you will never be forgotten. A few points on the Powering Canada Strong announcement that is important to understand; * Doubling Canada's electricity generation capacity is paramount. I just wish it wouldn't take 20+ years. We don't generate enough electricity to be self-sufficient or participate in future industries. We have no choice. Has to be done. It's something I called for a while and spoke on. * Linking the connectivity of Canada's fragmented grid. This is a must to increase productivity, and remove waste. It's a one step back for two steps forward type of investment. * the connection and expansion of the grid is one of the important things we need to do reach mining areas and develop these sectors and for the growth of smaller communities around. The problem with these whole announcement is that it is all net zero based which means it won't necessarily build the most reliable possible grid for the $ and will other ridiculous costs to be carbon tax trading based on the way. It's completely inefficient from capital planning point. Mark Carney says: It will require the spreading of costs over time using our AAA balance sheet so that ratepayers don't pay all of the costs of investments today. That means the government is planning to borrow MASSIVELY! That cost will appear not only in your electricity bill but also in the value of the CAD and interest costs that is already hitting record every single year. This plan is utilizing legitimate needed action to transform all of Canada's energy need into ideological driven carbon tax trade system and inefficient power generation that all together will cost Canadian taxpayers hundreds of billions more than it should.

It's something I called for a while and spoke on. * Linking the connectivity of Canada's fragmented grid. This is a must to increase productivity, and remove waste. It's a one step back for two steps forward type of investment. * the connection and expansion of the grid is one of the important things we need to do reach mining areas and develop these sectors and for the growth of smaller communities around. The problem with these whole announcement is that it is all net zero based which means it won't necessarily build the most reliable possible grid for the $ and will other ridiculous costs to be carbon tax trading based on the way. It's completely inefficient from capital planning point. Mark Carney says: It will require the spreading of costs over time using our AAA balance sheet so that ratepayers don't pay all of the costs of investments today. That means the government is planning to borrow MASSIVELY! That cost will appear not only in your electricity bill but also in the value of the CAD and interest costs that is already hitting record every single year. This plan is utilizing legitimate needed action to transform all of Canada's energy need into ideological driven carbon tax trade system and inefficient power generation that all together will cost Canadian taxpayers hundreds of billions more than it should.

Another great example of everyday Chinese efficiency we just experienced. We got the RV stuck (again, see quoted post below 👇) but this time it's completely not our fault: at the end of a one-way road a height restriction barrier had collapsed. It was meant to block trucks over 3m in height but, due to it collapsing, it was standing at maybe 2m50 and our RV is 2m80 so 🤷‍♂️ And since it was a one way road we couldn't turn around and drive against traffic: forbidden and too dangerous. So we called the police. They arrived in exactly 3 minutes which they told us is actually their official KPI for time to intervention. I repeat: the official KPI for the police here in China is that when someone calls, they need to be on-site within a maximum of 3 minutes 🤯 They did two things: first, they immediately called the local village chief, which in the Chinese system is the person accountable to get the height restriction barrier fixed. The guy arrived in less than 2 minutes! Second, they escorted us to drive back on our one-way road, so we could pass by the bike lane on the side which was large enough for our RV and wasn't affected by the barrier (see 3rd video). To summarize: in the space of a mere 5 minutes after calling them, the police had arrived, the guy in charge of fixing the barrier was on-site, and we were safely escorted back on the road. Problem identified, accountability assigned, solution executed. Five minutes.
