"New study from SF Gladstone Institutes sheds light on cause of brain fog due to COVID-19" Paper - Fibrin drives thromboinflammation and neuropathology in COVID-19

@AkassoglouLab The last 20 seconds should be the headline , even mild Covid infections cause strokes and neurological symptoms.

@AkassoglouLab Wow so glad researchers are working on this -- hoping with more understanding of these underlying mechanisms there will also be more hope for real treatments!

@AkassoglouLab They already have a mAbs in the pipe set up to treat this from Alzehimers research. 😀

@AkassoglouLab For a soon to be posted Ground Truths podcast, we had a great conversation this week with Katerina, @AkassoglouLab's recent, important @Nature paper Helpful Figure below from #LongCovid

@AkassoglouLab @Nature Thank you I'll be sure to watch it

@AkassoglouLab Now how to we get doctors to actually pay attention to this information and stop giving COVID to high risk patients?
@AkassoglouLab People with Covid infections often have thicker blood. The test for blood clots would be a d-dimer. The test for heart damage is troponin. An immune panel test would test for white blood cells, CD4, CD8, interferon, etc. Wish this was standard procedure for Covid infections.

@AkassoglouLab

@AkassoglouLab Therapeutically apart from monoclonals can any existing repurposed shrine expected to interfere in this interaction or pathway?
