We don't need Unreal Engine for games

People need to learn that Unreal Engine is not about the gamers, its more about the Devs.

I miss when games had unique look

Without Unreal Engine, most studios wouldn't be able to make games. Do you really think all studios can create their own game engine? Do you have any idea how much money that would require?

Unreal engine is good. It’s an amazing toolkit of a game engine for developers to build games in that has a full technical staff devoted to guiding developers. It allows devs to focus on what they do best, making games. Not every game developer can also be a tech company with a proprietary engine.

I loved mafia the old country but it was SO blurry on the base ps5 on 60fps, it looked extremely fuzzy, with clear dynamic resolution and up scaling showing through. Mafia the definitive edition looks clean and crispy on PS5, should’ve stuck to their in house engine

Developers are largely switching the Unreal because most developers have experience in it. It’s the default engine right now that everyone knows. It’s about finding more developers without training them on new engines. There’s nothing wrong with Unreal Engine.

Game studios need to stop contract hiring and go back to having devs who work and stay at the company. That way we can afford the utilization of proprietary engines. Mafia The Old Country is certainly a return to form but the UE 5 aspect was so unneeded and only caused issues.

I wish they just stuck with this engine , it looks much more better than TOC. Hopefully they move away From Unreal Engine with Mafia 4

OMG how much time I spent driving around in this city back then. One of the very few open world games I’ve actually enjoyed playing. Absolute perfection.

well, performance in Mafia DE is crap. And graphics is... well it's AA title, so visuals are corresponding. Ofc you won't notice that in copressed twitter video, but a lot of textures in this game are garbage. Not defending UE5 , but that's not the game to justify blaming it.

Devs need to learn how to optimize UE5 so it's not just UE5 slop that's blurry as hell and runs at 1440p@40 fps on high-end hardware, depending on DLSS to make it borderline playable.

Or they just need to optimize their games on Unreal Engine

I just finished Old Country and decided to give this a shot because I needed more Mafia. It's great! Highly recommend. Old Country story is better imo, but Definitive Edition plays way better and looks great.

The problem is that the Mafia remake doesn't use DLSS o FSR for play on 4K high fps

Better Unreal Engine that that (Flash Player console equivalent) Unity Engine. It is the reason why we have so many shovelware nowadays. Not to mention how Unity turns the PS4 into a turbine engine. I just slap my forehead when I start a game and it says #MadeWithUnity 🤦‍♂️
