We ended our legislative session with huge wins for transit: We allocated billions to regional rail & high speed rail, authorized a Bay Area regional revenue measure to strengthen transit & passed SB 79 to allow more homes near our best transit. Transit makes the world better.

Sacramento Democrats cut over $75 million in funding to house US Veterans and gave another $1 Billion to their failed High Speed Rail ‌ “High speed rail and bailout of transit over our veterans” ‌ CA Senator Brian Dahle “I wanna just identify in this budget some of the priorities and some of the things that aren't priorities that I think we've failed to recognize. ‌ - We're gonna spend $1,100,000,000 on high speed rail - We're gonna spend $1,200,000,000 to bail out public transit. That's a priority - But we're gonna cut over $75,000,000 for housing for veterans. ‌ So just to remind you, that's where our priority is at. Thanks to advocacy from our Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi, the federal government announced a new investment of $3.4 billion in the Portal, our transit center, to bring Caltrain — and eventually High Speed Rail — into the heart of our Downtown. With plans for 11 transit systems within and around the center, this investment isn’t just a commitment to the future of transportation in our city, region, and state, it’s a commitment to a thriving future for San Francisco. It’s a sign of what we can do when we work together and think big about what’s possible. The future of San Francisco and California is High Speed Rail, and the Portal in our Downtown is where that future will live.
