@KaraNextWeek @SEPTA @PGHtransit There are more daily SEPTA riders than there are daily cars on the PA turnpike . Nobody would even consider partially closing the highway due to funding shortages!!

It’s about ensuring their parents can get to work and their grandparents can get to their doctor’s appointments. It's about making sure every one of the 1 million people across the Commonwealth who rely on public transit can get where they need to go. I will stay at the table working to bridge the differences between the House and Senate until we get this done.

People should be able to depend on public transit to get where they need to go on time. That’s why, we’re working alongside our municipal partners to deliver high-quality, affordable transit networks. This week, we announced over $2.2 billion of funding to strengthen and expand public transit across 42 Ontario municipalities. This money will ensure communities have the stable, long-term funding they need, and support greater density near transit stations.

Today, my Administration approved SEPTA's plan to preserve service for 800,000 Pennsylvanians for the next two years — and on September 14th, full service will be restored. Senate Republicans have made clear they’re unwilling to act on a fair plan to add recurring revenue for mass transit — and SEPTA had to act. While this plan is not the long-term solution I proposed and House Democrats have passed, it won't jeopardize dollars that have already been earmarked for particular projects and will allow the system to operate for the next two years. Public schools, mental health providers, rape crisis centers, and so many critical services cannot continue to wait on funding while Senate Republicans refuse to pass a fair transit plan. It's time for the Legislature to get this budget done.
