This exchange is extraordinary not just because in a normal world you wouldn't have to point out that crossing the border illegally is a crime, and there is nothing different about families being separated if they cross the border illegally than a range of other crimes such as DUI or domestic violence. But it also shows you how much the progressive left has distorted what it means to live in a rules based society where the law applies to Americans, but not to illegal asylum seekers.

Residents in Swanton, VT are arming themselves with pistols as crossings were up a whopping 240% in 2023. Migrants are reportedly getting to Mexico and instead of crossing at the Southern border, are buying a one way ticket to Canada and then crossing over. Swanton resident Chris Feeley says he has been hunting in the area since he was a teen and rarely ran into anyone. Now he sees illegals frequently. “The border patrol actually told us, ‘You guys might want to put a pistol in your backpack’ because nine out of 10 of them are just here for a better life, but there’s that one guy that’s got a rap sheet,” he said. Feeley’s trail cameras capture the ongoing smuggling operations “at least once a week” (video below).

It's ridiculous for Congressional Democrats to claim they care about the well-being of illegal immigrants. I didn't see Democrats go to the border when committee hearings were held in Yuma, Ariz. and south Texas. They barely acknowledged the border crisis until there was a hoax to perpetuate when Border Patrol was falsely accused of whipping people. Democrats were fine with illegal immigrants getting robbed, extorted, and trafficked on their way to the U.S. because as long as they made it, they could then work as part of the servant underclass. Open borders are not humane and the Biden-Harris border crisis proved it. Elizabeth MacDonald
