He just admitted on French TV that before Trump’s election, in the EU institutions they had “absolutely no right to speak” about stopping the war in Ukraine. But now that Trump is elected, he rejoices they can finally speak about it. Think about what that reveals about the EU today: we can't even openly speak about (let alone act towards) ending a war on our own soil if it’s not US policy. Beyond insane. On the whole, we agree that this can be put into the foundation of future agreements. But it would be impolite from my side to talk about some final versions because there are none. Some things are crucial. And on the whole we see that the American side, in some points, takes our position into account that was discussed before Anchorage and after Alaska. And on some points we definitely need to sit down and seriously discuss some specific things. We need to put everything into the language of diplomacy.
