A few days ago I was passing through the Milan train station heading to Padua, and when I got there I had interviews with people injured by the COVID vaccine and conversations with scientists and doctors who worked within the Italian response from the beginning. Italy was where the world watched and panicked and we saw the images that told everyone this was real and coming for them. I have been asking since I arrived here whether what we saw matched what actually happened. The people I sat with in Padua had a lot to say about that. We had another screening of "An Inconvenient Study" that evening. This trip has been incredible so far.

Then we went straight to the theater for a screening of "An Inconvenient Study", followed by a panel I had been looking forward to for a long time. It was with four Italian doctors and scientists, sitting down to talk about what they actually saw during COVID. Italy was the story. After China, Italy was where the world watched people die on television and decided this was the end.
