Lindsey Clancy was placed on a psychiatric drug with no FDA approval for postpartum depression. Within 48 hours, she hadn't slept at all. Doctors abruptly stopped the drug, itself a dangerous move, then added a benzodiazepine and Benadryl on top of it. Nobody had tested whether she could actually metabolize these medications. Specific genetic variants affecting drug metabolism are linked to homicidal thoughts, suicidal ideation, and akathisia, and clinical psychologist Dr. Roger McFillin says the onset "can happen immediately." It worked with vaccines. They're trying it again with our food supply. The Trump administration's EPA filed a brief at the Supreme Court backing Bayer, arguing that because the EPA never required a cancer warning label on glyphosate, Bayer can't be held liable for not putting one there either. Never mind that the only major safety study the EPA leaned on to clear the product was just retracted weeks ago for its ties to industry. Never mind that three of the nine DOJ attorneys who signed the brief previously worked for law firms that represented Bayer and Monsanto. Glyphosate is sprayed on 80 to 90% of our crops. Over $10 billion has been paid out in cancer lawsuits. 97.8% of respondents to ICAN's poll oppose liability immunity for glyphosate manufacturers. 89% oppose the federal stockpile. And 80% say the retraction of that foundational safety study has shaken their trust in current safety claims. This hearing sure did give us a lot to talk about today. In his opening statement, Senator Cassidy told a CDC nominee that anyone who questions whether vaccines cause autism is spreading misinformation. Then he spent the next two minutes unable to correctly name a disease outbreak he was citing as a public health emergency. "Study after study shows they do not cause autism," he said, presenting it as closed science. It isn't. We all know that. Cassidy also called it misinformation to question the hepatitis B birth dose, a policy that vaccinates newborns against a disease overwhelmingly transmitted through sexual contact or IV drug use, conditions that no newborn is in. The FDA has approved Moderna's mRNA flu vaccine, the first flu shot using mRNA technology to reach the US market. The approval comes months after the same agency refused to even file Moderna's original application. Vinay Prasad, who took over the FDA's biologics division after Peter Marks, rejected the initial application in writing, citing the trial as not adequate and well controlled. His internal memo to FDA staff, later leaked to the Washington Post, called the annual flu vaccine framework an evidence-based catastrophe of low quality evidence, poor surrogate assays, and uncertain effectiveness measured with poor methods. Twelve former FDA chiefs responded by blasting his move to tighten vaccine standards in the New England Journal of Medicine. Prasad has since left the agency. ICAN submitted a letter to the FDA's independent VRBPAC committee before the vote laying out the problems: the vaccine was compared not against placebo but against a GSK product that Prasad himself called not best in class, the absolute influenza risk reduction was only 0.8% while the adverse reaction profile ran at 6.4%, the trial used a single season of data, and Part A of the trial produced more patient deaths than the comparator flu shot. The committee approved it anyway.
