We have achieved a new breakthrough on emulating PS3's Cell CPU! Elad discovered new SPU usage patterns and coded ways to generate more optimised PC code from them - benefitting all games! Twisted Metal, one of the most SPU-intensive games, sees a 5-7% Average FPS improvement.

All CPUs can benefit from this, from low-end to high-end! We have even received reports from a user running a dual-core Athlon 3000G CPU showing improved audio rendering and slightly better performance in Gran Turismo 5.

You guys are true heroes, thanks to RPCS3 I bought a PS3 system and are currently buying games to play and continue the adventure to emulate some games on PC. Thank you again!

Y'all always surprise us with those insane updates 🥹✌️

Any news on shader pre compilation? You guys are doing an amazing job, it shouldn't be dragged down by crap loading mid cutscene 😅

That's not possible. You need to know the RSX state at the time a shader is executed in order to be able to recompile it. The solution we came with is an ubershader, interpreter system that runs alongside the recompiler and provides an approximation until the real shader loads.

@Dont_care12346 God of war III playable when?

@KateO_hara @rpcs3 @Dont_care12346 It is playable I legit finished the whole game lol

@KateO_hara @rpcs3 He means "playable" as in rpcs3's classification "playable" Everything is playable if yiu are stubborn enough

Best emulator for the best console ever thank you guys!

Make God of War Ascension 100% playable and my life is yours RPCS3 team

Seeing how far Infamous 1 has come is great, I remember originally trying to play it on RPCS3 for the first time having low FPS but now I’m nearly 50 to 60 FPS. :D

I'm sorry idiots shit on you guys. You're doing gods work.

when I try play games with this emulator almost always it runs like shit

awesome stats you got there

The fact RPCS3 exists at all is an act of black magic, but the fact its still being improved upon makes me question if your developers arent communing with some kind of forbidden deity that has too many eyes for eldritch knowledge on how to improve even further.

I love you

In the future, even older laptops will be able to play PS3 games on the RPCS3 emulator. I can already play them on my RTX 3080, Ryzen 5 5600X, and 16 GB of RAM at 4K, but it’s still good to see the optimizations.

At this point RPCS3 might be one of the most optimized pieces of software out there and it's still in alpha, lol. These things add up.

The shadows are worse in the "after" video". Watch from 0:32 for 10 seconds and you will see.

The cutscene is slightly dynamic, the lighting is not the only thing that changes when you run it multiple times. The position and type of the cars, the NPCs, the lightning strikes and the spawn point of the health truck too.

Not trying to argue, very thankful for your work. I just notice a stark difference between the two videos. The right one is clearly smudgier (around the corners) and has maximally less pronounced shadows)

Elad writing the code

Didn't think a dinky car combat game would be the most intensive in anything development/emulation wise. Is Infamous good now?

I think that at this rate you can reveal the architecture and I wish you good luck

This is why PC is superior. Games that will be lost media otherwise are now fully and better played on PC. Protect the PC!

Twisted Metal mentioned

any dead souls updates 👀

Are you guys working on infamous 1 and 2 fixes by any chance?

You're doing God's work here.

The Cell processors were ahead of their time. I don't think any of the Sony game devs ever fully utilized them.

I wanted to play Twisted Metal 2012 so bad. Thank you RPCS3

How are you guys so efficient?

You guys are doing amazing work. Well done! Keep it up. I'm so grateful for each and everyone over at rpcs3 devs team!

Hoo boys and girls, this is going to be soo much fun!

So how about the Resistance trilogy? I've been dying to replay it since I don't own a working PS3
