ISWAP is claiming responsibility for another assault on a camp in Borno. Borno state bears the brunt of ISWAP attacks due to its proximity to Lake Chad. a strategic stronghold that effectively serves as the groups unsinkable aircraft carrier. Governor Zulum has repeatedly called for a coordinated military offensive involving the Army, Navy, and Air Force to target insurgent strongholds in the Lake Chad area. He identified the islands, known as the Tumbus, as a critical safe haven for Boko Haram and ISWAP terrorists. He even called for the large scale deployment of armed attack drones into the theatre, emphasizing that technology holds the key to resolving the conflict. Unless we strike decisively at their core bases of operation, these attacks will persist. They will continue targeting isolated, vulnerable outposts at a time and place of their choosing.

We are fighting against death – the death that Russia is bringing to our land. We must not allow Russia to blur reality or mislead the world. Moscow must be forced into diplomacy. We need a ceasefire. We need real peace. We need real security. We must use every method available to achieve this – our front line and our defense, our production and technology, our work to build a real security architecture. We must be effective in all of it. We have a problem in our society that we must come to grips with. We have members of our society who celebrate an assassination, and we need a dramatic course correction. Anyone who mocks the murder of an innocent father goes beyond the bounds of what is humane, and it must end. We as a society, we as a state, must send a signal that celebrating the assassination of a free speech advocate is wrong in a civil society.

Where does Northern Ireland fit into all of this? It's clearer than ever to me that while people are talking about Reform the party, we need Reform of Stormont. We don't know what the future holds, but one thing is certain, we need to guard against all eventualities and the last thing we want is to be without a devolved government. We need a robust system that can't collapse. We need to know that whoever is in Govt in Westminster, that we are in charge of our future. No one else can solve or care about our problems apart from us. Reform of Stormont has now just become an absolute essential. We must be able to govern ourselves no matter who is in No 10.
