We rode from Owerri in Imo State to Umuahia in Abia State through the Mbaise–Obowo road, and I was truly impressed by the quality of infrastructure along the way. The roads in Imo State have greatly improved, making travel easier and more enjoyable for everyone. And as I entered Abia State, I could see ongoing road construction from the boundary to the iconic Umuahia Tower — clear signs of progress. This ride is part of a bigger mission — I’ll be visiting different states across Nigeria that are making real progress in infrastructure and governance. I want to shine a light on the good things happening in our country, because when states perform well, Nigeria wins. If you know any state where the government is working and infrastructure is improving, please recommend it in the comments. I’ll gladly come and document the progress. Further to our ongoing enforcement and mop-up operations across key corridors of the State, our teams recorded the following arrests today: Eighteen beggars were apprehended along the Ketu–Mile 12 axis for constituting environmental nuisance and obstructing public spaces. Thirty-eight miscreants were arrested for soliciting alms and causing traffic disruptions along the Lekki–Epe Expressway. In addition, one Mafus Azeez, aged 15, was apprehended along the Lekki–Epe Expressway for aggressively soliciting alms by displaying bank account details and operating a POS device on the road. This individual is known for repeatedly engaging in this activity despite previous warnings. Enforcement will continue consistently across the State as we work to keep our roads safe, orderly, and free from environmental and social infractions. #CleanerLagos

Hurricane Helene Update: From The Bucket. Our crews are continuing to work through the first day of restoration following the devastating effects of #Helene. We are continuing to bring more resources from outside of our system and currently have 14,000+ personnel engaged in response - more than many other major hurricanes. So far, we have managed to restore over 250,000 customers, and are continuing to work across the state navigating flooded/closed roads and the conditions. There are updated estimated restoration times available on our outage map for multiple communities across Georgia. Additional evaluation is occurring as areas are accessible across southern, coastal and eastern Georgia, where communities experienced hurricane force winds leading to extensive damage. Dear Nigerians, Your federal roads are in a terrible state. There are no functional interstate roads. Major highways have become an eyesore. This is the major reason for insecurity, low productivity, & skyrocketing food inflation. Umahi would rather play politics & chase little girls. He’d rather abuse Obi than get to work. The ₦15 trillion wasted on the Lagos-Calabar coastal white elephant project would have fixed all the dilapidated federal roads across Nigeria. All the governors promising millions of votes are stupid. What did you do with subsidy savings?

My colleagues across the aisle just called our fight to protect Social Security “garbage.” I’m sorry—WHAT!?!? Our seniors, veterans, children, and people with disabilities are not “garbage.” And, neither is our fight to protect the programs we depend on. We don’t work for billionaires. We work for the people. And, we will continue to fight like hell for them.

We are delighted to provide an update on the ongoing reconstruction of the Akute–Lambe–Agbado Road in Ifo Constituency II, Phase 1, covering a 9.2-kilometre stretch, including sections of major adjoining roads. So far, commendable progress has been recorded. Scarification of all failed sections has been carried out, involving the removal of defective asphalt and the excavation of unsuitable materials. These have been replaced with quality backfill sourced from the borrow pit, thereby ensuring a solid and lasting foundation for the new road. In the next phase, our engineers will proceed with replacing all remaining unsuitable materials with quality laterite, followed by drainage excavation and construction. This crucial step will guarantee effective water flow, prevent erosion, and sustain the durability of the road. Our commitment goes beyond simply constructing roads—we are delivering resilient infrastructure that enhances ease of movement, promotes commerce, and improves the daily lives of our people in Ifo Local Government and across Ogun State. There has been a record level of snow where you are, the roads are a mess and the city is adamant about clearing the roads for public safety. The city issued a parking ban an hour before they started towing everyone away. Imagine coming out from work and your car is gone, could the have done better and have been more fair about it? Maybe not charge them this time since an hour isn’t sufficient time’s notice?
