The strike may take place today – we have preliminary information that it could happen within the next 48 hours. Please take care of yourselves and pay attention to air raid alerts. I want to express gratitude to our air defense warriors—every individual in the various types and branches of our forces who protect our skies. Every night and every day, they intercept Russian Shahed drones and missiles. This morning, they successfully shot down a Russian ballistic missile. Every success like this saves lives. Ukraine is deeply grateful to all our partners who provide interceptor missiles and air defense systems. We are currently working to secure additional supplies—missiles, defense systems, and everything necessary to strengthen our mobile fire groups. Our strategic goal is to reach a practical level of cooperation with our partners that allows us to produce the air defense systems and interceptor missiles we need here in Ukraine. This week alone, the Russians have launched more than 1,700 attack drones, over 1,380 guided aerial bombs, and 69 missiles of various types. Every massive attack by Russia can become devastating. That is why missiles for air defense systems are needed every day, and we continue working with the United States and Europe to ensure stronger protection of our skies. We are working on the results of our recent negotiations – meetings in Europe and discussions with our partners. I had a conversation with President Biden, and we are preparing for meetings in Ukraine with the American team, including political and military representatives. We are developing our Victory Plan in discussions with our partners. Additionally, preparations for the second Peace Summit – good faith diplomacy – are underway. Our goal is to end the war in a way that guarantees safety and peace for all Ukrainians and for Ukraine as a whole. I am grateful to every leader and every country that has understood our security arguments and is ready to help steer the current situation toward peace.

Over this past week, Russia used around 2,200 attack drones against Ukraine, more than 1,730 guided aerial bombs, and 106 missiles of various types, nearly half of them ballistic. Sumy, Zaporizhzhia, Kherson, Kharkiv, and Dnipro, as well as our border and frontline communities, are under fire almost every day. There was a massive strike on Kyiv that claimed the lives of 31 people and injured another 102, including four children. My condolences to their families and loved ones. Every day, we must protect lives from these attacks. We already have the capabilities to effectively shoot down more than 90% of drones, but, unfortunately, not all ballistic missiles are intercepted. And it is ballistic missiles that Moscow is now leaning on to continue its war. And every day, we are working to strengthen air defense for Ukraine: through PURL and through our bilateral contacts with countries that have not joined PURL but do have the missiles we so urgently need. We are also strengthening our air defense through joint work with Europeans on anti-ballistic capabilities. We need answers from our partners to our requests for air defense. Every package of interceptor missiles provides real protection for lives. I thank all leaders who are finding ways to help in this particular area.

I had a meeting with representatives of the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Italy, Poland, Canada, and the Netherlands to NATO and praised their countries’ contributions to our defense. We are grateful to Germany for the Patriot systems, to the United States for the opportunity to purchase weapons and air defense systems through the PURL initiative, to the United Kingdom and France for the missiles, to Canada and the Netherlands for their contributions to the PURL initiative, and to all other countries for their assistance. This support truly saves lives of our people, and it is very important that new countries join the initiative. We thank Germany for its constant contribution to protecting people; thousands upon thousands of lives have been saved thanks to such strong support. But we also need missiles for air defense systems so that we have sufficient capabilities to repel Russian attacks. This week, there were significant arrangements with Sweden – a new support package, including for strengthening our aviation with Gripen fighter jets. On the diplomatic front, we are working hard not only to counter Russian influence, but also to persuade partners to increase their supply of air defense systems and missiles. The other issue is the availability of weapons and ammunition for our frontline warriors to carry out current and future missions in the coming months. We are well aware of what Russia is preparing for. They are war-sick and will not stop themselves. And we make every effort to have sufficient capabilities to counter them.

Today, the Air Force is much more than just one branch of the military. It is a component of our defense that, in many ways, truly shapes the course of this war. Ukrainians did not surrender – and will not surrender – their skies to Russia. That is one of our nation's greatest achievements throughout this full-scale war. We did not allow our Air Force to be destroyed, and have built it up to the point where Russia regularly loses its aircraft. And now, when the only thing – the last thing – Putin has left to bet on is his massive attacks against Ukraine, the Air Force, our combat aviation, is destroying Russian cruise missiles and trying to destroy ballistic missiles as well. And when our Patriot batteries aren't empty, it succeeds. It is important that, thanks to our cooperation with Europe, our IRIS-T, Hawk, and NASAMS systems are operating. Every day, we fight to secure missile supplies for them. And I am grateful that our partners around the world are helping us with that. Of course, ballistic missiles remain a challenge. But we have provided Ukraine with protection against a significant share of cruise missiles, and we are shooting down a great many. Our interception rate against attack drones is also above 90%, and that is a truly significant achievement for Ukraine – for all of us, for every one of you. I thank all of you – all those gathered here today, every man and woman defending Ukraine's skies – who, despite fighting what is, in reality, an unequal battle and lacking sufficient means to bring down enemy targets, accomplish the incredible, go beyond the maximum. I am grateful to Germany for the Patriot system, which is already in Ukraine—this is excellent news. Additionally, I thank the United States for taking another step in strengthening our air defense and our Patriots. We continue to work, and new decisions will surely follow. Ukrainians have already proven that there are no Russian missiles we cannot shoot down. We are doing everything possible to ensure Russian terror is defeated.

Dozens of partner countries will participate, including those who can help boost our capabilities not only to defend against missiles but also against guided bombs and Russian aviation. We are working to strengthen Ukraine’s air defence. We urgently need positive signals from the United States regarding air defence systems — we are still waiting for a response to our request to purchase systems that can help. I thank the European countries for supplies. We must also achieve results in joint production of air defence systems and missiles, this is absolutely essential for our whole Europe. Only time separates us from that result, and what matters most is shortening that time.
