Flooding issue resolved in 70% of the identified areas of Bengaluru, remaining to be fixed soon. We had identified 210 areas as flood prone in Bengaluru. Ever since I took over as the Bengaluru Development Minister, we have fixed flooding issues in 166 (70%) of those localities. Flood prevention work is currently going on in 24 areas while work would soon be taken up in the remaining 20 areas. We have built 197 km of storm water drains. Traffic police have identified 132 spots which are flooded during heavy rains. Of these, we have rectified issues in 82 spots and 41 spots are yet to be fixed. We are spending Rs 2000 crore for storm water drains. Rain is controlled by nature while we can only try to control the controllables. We are rectifying flood-prone areas and are trying to help the common people. Quantum of rainfall has been very high in Silk Board junction, Hebbal and Yelahanka area. Underpass works are underway in a couple of places in these areas and they have been flooded. We will work with those departments to resolve these issues. - My statements to the media during the press meet at the BBMP War Room earlier today. #BengaluruRains

There's a fish called the Smelt and we have far more fresh water runoff into the ocean than we should on the theory that it helps this one little fish that likes this fresh/salt water mix. Because we are not under bombing in Idlib, people have stopped donating and we are facing a huge crisis in our funding. There is no improvement in the lives of the animals in Syria, and without funding we aren't able to help them anymore. We cannot send our mobile clinics out, because we have no funding. We cannot feed street animals because we can't afford to. We cannot send out rescue teams. We have lower donations now than we have ever had and our essential costs are the same now as they were before December 8th when the regime fell. Please, please will you reconsider reinstating your cancelled donations and giving us your support again? Without you we cannot help any of the ones who desperately need our aid. Heavy rainfall and flooding have left a lot of debris in Douglas Lake. To manage this issue, we are installing a one-mile-wide boom near Dandridge, Tennessee, to capture floating and submerged debris in the water. We are below sea level; when it rains, the tidal level goes up and the storm water cannot clear up easily. This is flash flooding and it eases off after an hour or two.
