The bill we passed made it COMPULSORY for INEC to TRANSMIT results REAL-TIME through the IREV. We removed the part of the law that gave INEC the power to use their DISCRETION on that. From what we passed ELECTRONIC TRANSMISSION of results is NOW compulsory, no DISCRETION given to INEC anymore — Enyinnaya Abaribe Me: Who is now trying to change what was passed? 🤷

“We are here, this is the premises of the NASS. We went in, we presented the complain of over 250 million Nigerians. What we are saying is, we must have free & fair elections. Today, we are telling Nigerians that we have submitted their demands. Without e-transmission, there is no trust in the electoral process.” ~Aisha Yesufu & Other protesters submit Electoral Reform Petition to the Senate, demanding mandatory real-time e-transmission of results

The Senate has not removed any means of transmission. If you want to use a bicycle to carry your votes from one polling unit to the ward centre, do so. If you want to use your phone to transmit, do so. If you want to use your iPad, do so. All we said was that we should remove the word ‘real time,’ because if you say real time and there is grid failure and the network is not working, when you go to court somebody will say it ought to have been real time. That was what we said. We left the burden for INEC to determine the mode of transmission of votes. - Senate President Akpabio insists that the Senate did not remove electronic transmission of election results, clarifying that lawmakers only questioned the requirement for real-time transmission

Behn: This isn't the end of our story. It's not even close, because what we have built here in this district, this grassroots movement, is part of something bigger that is happening across the south and is happening across this country. Because we are tired of people outside of this state telling us that the south is backwards, that it's hopeless and it's destined to be ruled by the same powerful people again and again. The south is not silent because the south has something to say. And Tennessee, we are leading the way. We have inspired an entire country. They are with us tonight and they are so proud. we’re able to do. And we may not have won tonight, but we changed the story of what's possible here. And we're not done, not by a long shot.

Kaja Kallas: what we have to keep in mind is why countries want to be in NATO is because they don't want Russia to invade them. That's why Sweden and and Finland joined NATO, that's why the Baltic States joined NATO, to have this defense umbrella. if this is out of the question, then we need to see what are the security guarantees that are tangible. They can't be papers or promises, they have to be real troops, real capabilities, so that Ukraine is able to defend itself. We have to understand that Donbas is not Putin's end game.

Maybe Nigerians should question our broadband: How technical are we today? How technical will we be tomorrow to answer the call, either for real-time electronic transmission or not? We need to avoid glitches and unnecessary hacking. - President Tinubu on the debate about real-time electronic transmission of election results after signing the Electoral Act 2026.

“There are plans that the president has, but they cannot be implemented if we don’t give him time. There are people in Nairobi planning things and want to tell you the president is not worthy. If we listen to them we will not have development and we will be the biggest loser.” Senate speaker Kingi calls for patience, urges Kenyans to give Ruto time to address issues.

We will not be remembered by the laws we passed. We will not be remembered by the oversight functions we are able to perform. We will not be remembered by the fact that we won and we are here. We'll be most remembered by the positions we take for matters of controversy and issues that are sensitive to our nation. There are thousands that have been here and have left, and there will be more. Our children, our brothers, our siblings will be here, but they will remember us by the mark we make here. - Shehu Sani, Fmr. Senator representing Kaduna Central, speaking at the 2026 NASS Open Week.
