We just launched Sites into Codex! Software creation was always about more than writing code. Sites in Codex fundamentally gives the power of end-to-end software creation to every user, no matter their technical fluency. These Sites are fully deployed to a URL, private to workspaces, come with authentication, can... have static files, and can store dynamic data in databases. They are nontech white collar workers, mainly for back office work. I am currently Claude atm because it is an easier onboard and they tend to prefer its personality but this type of feature (and continued model improvement, 5.5 is nice) is making me genuinely rethink

Not hundreds of engineers - our team working on this is actually incredibly small! But launching a product like this at our scale does require coordinating across folks in many different roles within the company :)

Honestly, this is the exact mental model agents are supposed to kill. More tiny apps for humans to open is not the frontier. It’s Stone Age workflow automation with a better demo. The future is agents completing the work while the interface disappears. I wrote the less polite version here:

Not bad at all! I've been building personal WebApps for the family with Claude code, vercel for hosting and supabase/firebase for auth/db. Having everything under one umbrella is going to be super useful. I might switch over! (Please Anthropic copy this!)

Interesting direction. The no-technical-fluency pitch works well for internal tooling. Curious how it handles auth, state, and data persistence beyond static display - that is usually where deploy-to-URL gets complicated fast.

We use an internal, custom developed prototype server to host our prototypes—but this is really cool. Will try it out as soon as it hits our Codex instance and let you know what I think.
