We knew Trump’s Reflecting Pool redo was a disaster from the get-go. But this buffoonery… Yesterday Jeanine Pirro admitted the damage was caused by faulty workmanship and dropped the case. Today, Trump says he disagrees “100%” with his own hand-picked prosecutor. Meanwhile, the Secretary of the Interior is still...

"Jeanine Pirro made a mistake. It was vandalism," says President Donald J. Trump on the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool. "We have photographs or tapes... where people are on the side cutting it with a box knife. Now, I'm not saying I was 100% thrilled with the contractor, but the contractor was rushing. We wanted to get it open for July 4th, and we got it done—but, in addition, there was vandalism."

BREAKING: President Trump speaks out about the Department of Justice's move to drop the Reflecting Pool vandalism case. "That was the one mistake with the reflecting pond, they hadn't put up the cameras yet... If they would have had them up, we would have had a lot of- it would have been a lot easier. And I was disappointed with Jeanine Pirro, really disappointed with Jeanine Pirro. She folded like an umbrella and people get away with things, and it's a disgrace."

I disagree 100% with Jeanine Pirro, the U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia, on the Reflecting Pool. I don’t know what she was thinking? To me, it was a pure case of VANDALISM, that included the grass, which had a big 86 47 emblazoned in giant letters on it, and other elements of the surrounding area. There may have been some contractor difficulty, but the major damage was caused by VANDALS! President DJT ( TS: Aug 1 2026, 12:32 PM ET )‍‌‌‌‍‌‌‍‌‌‍‍‍‍‍‌‌‍‍‌‌‌

CNN montage of Jeanine Pirro’s claims from the press conference on the reflecting pool indictment: There was an effort, a violent effort, to rip up the sealant from the bottom of the pool. We can state and prove beyond a reasonable doubt that he caused damage, and that damage is over $1,000.

They made an immediate arrest, which happens here in New York all the time by the NYPD. And then when the prosecutors dug in, which Jeanine Pirro dug in, she dismissed the case Phillip: This is not a happy story of them doing the right thing. It was a crap case.

🇺🇸 Trump just posted new footage of "vandals" slicing the Reflecting Pool with a knife or box cutter. Days earlier, his own Justice Department dropped the case against the guy they'd charged for it, admitting in a filing that the damage was "botched" contractor installation, not vandalism. When they drained the pool to fix it, there were no cut marks. There were tire tracks, from Trump's own motorcade driving through it. This is the same $14 million pool that was "impervious to knives" in May and got "sliced 350 feet" by June. The DOJ already told the story straight. The president's still telling the other one. Federal prosecutors on Friday asked a judge to dismiss an indictment charging former U.S. Olympic canoeist David Hearn with ripping up the bottom of the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool, citing new information that the damage was caused by a "botched installation" by a contractor, not vandalism. The U.S. Attorney's Office in D.C. had charged Hearn with felony destruction of government property, accusing him of causing more than $1,000 in damage to the sealant that was recently installed at the bottom of the Reflecting Pool. The project to renovate the pool was championed by President Trump. CBS News' Olivia Rinaldi has more.
