Q: Esteban, new year, new rules, new car. You've had the first run out this morning at the Shakedown. What are the first impressions? How did the program go for you? Esteban Ocon: Yeah, feeling good. I think, frist of all, an unbelievable effort from the team really to put the car down, you know, at 9:20 this morning. But the was ready at 9:00 you know. We were waiting on a bit of a better track condition and a few things that we wanted to be perfect before we went out. But yeah, from Fiorano testing with Ollie to here there's been moving like people have climbed mountains really to make this car work and it's been really good. So, we are dealing with the plan, learning as it goes. Of course, it's a busy program that we have for the day. So you know, its gonna be difficult to complete it. But for the first real day of driving, I think so far it's going really well and we'll keep pushing to make sure that all the details are covered. But we have more days than normal which is a good thing. Q: Very early days, of course, but just how different are these cars to drive? Have you had a chance to play around a little bit with some of the new modes? Ocon: Yeah, it's very difficult, very complicated. I got lucky be able to do a lot of simulator days before we started the year, so we are pretty well set on that. Everything is clear, but yes, it's very complicated you know, for all of us. But I hope that this will be the same for everyone, because if it is we're in the same boat, so we'll see. Q: But I get the sense you're really relishing that challange and what about the priorities from here, the rest of the weel here at the shakedown? NRG Strong on the lessons they can take away from their loss to Paper Rex: "I would say the major lesson we probably had was the importance of setting up the players for success. I don't think we did as well as we could today. Maybe there's one or two things we could have done better. I think the major lesson, to be fair, is that our fundamentals are strong. We didn't play badly at all today. But because of how we are as a team, it can always come down to very tight margins. We're a team that doesn't generally blow teams out. We're a team that is so, so good at grinding out rounds and doing that sort of stuff. So I think the big lesson is: we're good, our fundamentals are good, we just have to be tight, and we just can't let anything for error slip in. There are lessons to be taken from this. This wasn't a bad loss. You get bad losses sometimes. It didn't feel like, 'Oh, we don't know what went wrong.' No, we know what went wrong. It's one or two small things, and it's things that we can adapt to, and it's things that will be better under different circumstances, and things that we can make the circumstances better for as well. So yeah, I think that would be the big lesson. We just have to be tight in these circumstances and there's no room for error on our end. That's a big, big, big thing."

Then around 2025, I think we took a look at the year and with how good Yoru was, we just tried to leverage the fact that Yoru could be everywhere on the map and we tried to make sure that we understood the game on a micro level a lot better. How have you looked on Oscar Piastri's first three years with McLaren, this fight, and do you expect him to bounce back quite strong next year?” Andrea Stella: “Oscar will be definitely stronger next year. Oscar will win championships at McLaren in the future. He has all it takes. I've always said that the rate of development tells me why he won championship at the first year in the junior categories. His capacity to adapt, his capacity to analyze what is needed, got it, I'll go out and do it and he does it. He’s no short than exceptional. And I think this year Oscar for two third of the season has been the most consistent. We then went to tracks that challenged Oscar from a technical point of view. The low grip circuits required a driving style that came so natural for Lando and so much to think for Oscar like ‘ah, that's what the car needs, it doesn't come natural to me. I have to think how I do it in an automatic way.’ And with the level of drivers we have at the moment, as soon as you have to think too much in the way you drive, you lose several positions. But I think really the only event in which Oscar had some hesitations this year is just Baku. I think all the rest in my view, it has some technical explanations. It has to do with the level overall of drivers that we have there for the impact of not being perfect, not being to the last 1%. And also Oscar showed maturity once again in the way he withstood the difficulties we had as a team. THE MOST IMPORTANT Q&A OF MEDIA DAY. Mariana: You came from a very solid weekend on top of everything, but at the same time, it seems that you don't feel that the team is listening to you. Am I right? And how do you balance that? Lewis: I feel like we're going in the right direction. Rome wasn't built in one day, so it takes time to build. For me, coming into the team, I wanted to be respectful of the way they've done things in the past and just to really observe and see where our strengths and where our weaknesses are and to highlight where our weaknesses are and areas that we need to work on. But I do feel that they've been responding. I think you're starting to see, hopefully, some of the impact of the work that we're doing in the background and also into next year's car. This is a car that I've had nothing to do with in terms of developing this car over the years. Hopefully, from next year, my input goes into that car, and that will be a car that I've hopefully been a part of or will have been a part of developing. But I think we've got a really great rapport. I think we're really progressing, particularly since the summer break. I think things have started to get better, and it's all just about building trust and communication. Also, I'm coming into a team that English is not the first language, and I don't speak Italian, so it's finding a common ground. And the fact is we all want to win. Am I right? And how do you balance that? Lewis: I feel like we're going in the right direction. Rome wasn't built in one day, so it takes time to build. For me, coming into the team, I wanted to be respectful of the way they've done things in the past and just to really observe and see where our strengths and where our weaknesses are and to highlight where our weaknesses are and areas that we need to work on. But I do feel that they've been responding. I think you're starting to see, hopefully, some of the impact of the work that we're doing in the background and also into next year's car. This is a car that I've had nothing to do with in terms of developing this car over the years. Hopefully, from next year, my input goes into that car, and that will be a car that I've hopefully been a part of or will have been a part of developing. But I think we've got a really great rapport. I think we're really progressing, particularly since the summer break. I think things have started to get better, and it's all just about building trust and communication. Also, I'm coming into a team that English is not the first language, and I don't speak Italian, so it's finding a common ground. And the fact is we all want to win.
