We may have reached the singularity with digital experiences. Opus 5.5 has proven that it's capable of producing tasteful, well-designed experiences, like this example here. Any digital experience will likely be commoditised, personalised and available to anyone who seeks it. In the near future, any digital experience you can...

Oh yeah and this is built with ThreeJS. It seems like Opus 5.5 is trained specifically to be the strongest at ThreeJS, the results speak for itself.

This is super lovely! What an era to live in, creativity's exploding with people being able to focus simply on ideas rather than the code.

I find the real joy of building is in coming up with ideas while playing and understanding there's a real path to making that happen. The more time I can spend playing and less time coding and still realize the ideas I think we're still on the right path

I am blown away with what opus is creating for me.... having too much fun! and literally running it day and not and not hitting my limits!!!!

Yea the part that really surprises me is how token-effecient it is, compared to other models like Astra

You have summed up my feelings perfectly. My entire profession has just been consumed by AI but I am also utterly blown away by it all and oddly don't have any resentment.

Generation got cheap. Ownership didn’t. If you can’t change it next week without the chat, it isn’t yours yet.

Amazing! I heard today from some game studios they are licensing code to frontier labs for training, maybe we get more than just threeJS next time!

did you reference townscaper/tiny-glade for this or did opus decide on this kind of procgen landscaping on its own?

yes I did ask it to reference townscaper procedural logic for the landscaping logic

If I have a choice between lucid dreaming and playing mobile pay-to-win games, I know what I'm going to choose. Every time. I'll still be a creator! I'll just be doing it with my decisions and actions in my interactive Holodeck adventures.

You know what though? I hope this is a wake-up call for the gaming and movie world. I get it takes time to create things like movies and games but let's be honest here, shouldn't take 10 years to put out a new Grand theft Auto or cost a billion dollars. I'm willing to bet a lot of these studios have a lot of down time and take for granted how much time they give themselves to make these things. Hopefully we get to a point where a new movie or a new game sequel can be put out in a year and not 10.

I feel this in my heart, and I still believe this: 1) People like you, who are creative, idea generators, and have a sense of design, are the progenitors here. 2) People like to have shared experiences, to be able to play together, talk about the same thing, etc. There is a human barrier here to phase jumping too much, too fast, when in a group or even with one friend. If you lose common context, social play goes away. So people will find the ones they like, for whatever reason, and play together. Those can't be too hyper-personalized. Of course people will still play other games solo, on mobile mostly, when alone and unwinding/recharging. Those are likely to be more hyper-personalized. 3) I know it sounds awkward, but agents will play games too. It is for different reasons than people do, until agents have utility for a sense of accomplishment beyond goal completion, or have a motivation to be on a leaderboard. I'm building out an engine for this, I see it as inevitable.

On the contrary I think this will inspire many people like myself who have failed time and time again purely because of time constraints, technical limitations or because life has taken over. This simply enhances the creative process and allow me to visualise, produce and tweak in real time and never get bored.

This is what we call a “hasty generalization” Let’s really not start a trend of “singularity for <x>”. It’s a good word and that’s not what it means.

Epic. What’s easy for anyone to create becomes a commodity. Creating new experiences and art that has never existed will be the edge where humans thrive. It’s easy to build a GTA scene clone with AI; impossible to create a new game of equal caliber.

AI is progressing way past my expectations though I think there will be one constant. There will always be a subset of people that would rather just game versus create. So if you got that creative spirit, it’s time to embrace that and blow the doors off of what’s possible.

Part of that joy is in being able to express ideas and see them brought to life. While there will be skill and nuance in this, almost every creator has had ideas where they hit major roadblocks and might have never been able to fully realize that idea. AI removes the roadblocks

I think we are just going to discover what is truly the art part of any art aren’t most digital experiences already commoditized? really just feels like more in the same direction the more things change, the more they stay the same

Yup this trajectory didnt start with genAI, it started decades ago as software costs go down, software becomes cheaper and cheaper. but man the acceleration feels really different this time.

How will we know if an AI take over is imminent? What are the warning signs? Connor Leahy: “Things will seem mostly normal, just… weird. Things will get weirder…and weirder… and then one day, we will just not be in control anymore. “There won't be a fight. There won't be a war. It won't be dramatic. It will just be that one day the machines are in control, and not us.” “The way I expect [AI take over] to feel is like, if you play chess against a grandmaster, it doesn’t feel like you're having a heroic battle against the Terminator…. it doesn’t feel like you're having this incredible back and forth, and then you lose... No, it feels more like you THINK you're playing well, you think everything is okay, and then suddenly… you lose… in one move, and you don't know why. This is what it feels like to play chess against a grandmaster, and this is what it's going to feel like for humanity to play against AGI. It won’t be some dramatic battle where the Terminators rise up and try to destroy humanity. No, it will be… things get more and more confusing. [Editor's note: Like Sam Altman, out of nowhere, raising up to 10% of world GDP?] More and more jobs get automated faster and faster... More and more technology gets built, which no one even quite knows how the technology works... There will be mass media movements that don't really make any sense... Like, do we really know the truth of what's going on in the world right now, even now with social media? Do you or I really know what's going on? How much of this is fake? How much of it is generated with AI or other methods? We don't know. And this will get much worse.” Imagine if you have extremely intelligent systems, much smarter than humans, that can generate any image, any video, anything, trying to manipulate you well...and being able to develop new technologies to interfere with politics.”

Elon Musk on Grok: “I think an AI that is sort of SpaceX’s baby will be a very good AI. I think SpaceX is a collection of some of the very best humans on Earth, both in capability and morality and goodness, and I think we want to have an AI that is born of that capability and that morality and that goodness. I think that’s very, very important. So I’d like to encourage people to help out, actually, with the AI hardware on the ground and the AI software and, of course, with the AI satellites. Solar is going to be a very important part of that. The TerraFab will be a very important part of that, but we must also succeed on the software front, and we’re going to be training Grok on the sum total of all SpaceX information. So in a way, it will be trained on you. You will effectively be the parents of the AI. It will inherit your thoughts and ideas and beliefs, and I think that’s a good thing. So, yeah, we’ve got to win here on the AI hardware and the AI software. That maybe is the most important message. I think that is actually the most important message I wanted to convey today is that we must win on AI because the future is overwhelmingly AI and robots. So we won’t ultimately be able to control the AI. It’ll be too smart for that. But just like if you have a child that is a super genius child, you can still instill in that child the values and beliefs that you think are good and right. And so that’s why it’s incredibly important that we succeed with Grok. So, yeah, well, Grok 4.5 you’ve tried probably. We’ve got 4.6 coming out in about a week. And then 4.7 should be really pretty special. So I’d like to encourage everyone at SpaceX to use AI and to make it better.”
