This is a better explanation of what Senator Okiya Omtatah is talking about. Ksh 19.6B was illegally withdrawn from the Consolidated Fund in January 2025 without parliamentary approval. Taxpayers money amounting to Ksh 19.6B was withdrawn without a defined purpose and without parliamentary approval. When they realized Okiya had caught them, they lied that the money was used to pay KQ loans. In the previous year, KQ had made enough profit that was enough to pay their loans That Ksh 19.6B was looted and now we are being told that there's no money to confirm JSS teachers and to fund day secondary education. #RutoMustGoNow #DrainTheSwamp

Okiya: The Treasury should be separated from the Ministry of Finance, from the politics of the country, so that it is run professionally, the way you run a bank, devoid of politics. Once you do that then you'll starve the President free money and politics will stop being attractive.

When Okiya wrote to treasury, John Mbadi said that the money was paid to some banks on behalf of KQ. The year before, KQ had made a profit that was enough to pay those loans without touching taxpayers money. Surprisingly, the standard has revealed what I have been talking about all along. Crooks in government, are looting parastatals, to say that they are loss making so that the parastatals are sold to them. A similar scenario with Kenya Pipeline Company. In Parliament, I made a simple point. Once a Barbadian has done the work, the money they have earned must be paid on time and must not be taken from their pay packet without proper authority. A wage packet is not an accounting entry. It is rent, bus fare, school lunch, food, medicine and dignity. We cannot control every global shock or tell the shipping lines what price to charge Barbados. We can ensure that working people receive and keep what they have earned, backed by a remedy with teeth. That is what the Protection of Wages Bill is about.
