“We need data centers and unregulated AI to compete with China, but we don’t need their transportation infrastructure” is an opinion I cannot reconcile.

The challenge we have against the Chinese is they're building 10X the power we are. We've had permitting problems across the country. Utah stepped up and said, "Look, we can compete. Not only do we have the land, 40,000 acres, we've got a pipeline running through the land, and we have this designation that can accelerate permitting." We're building power from scratch from the pipeline and using Natural gas that we're gonna burn with turbines clean. But we can also give back to the grid. That's good for the community. But for the country, we need to compete with China. We need to lead in AI in perpetuity. Data centers are what we need and we need them now, and Utah's stepped up.

I’m not saying they are building all these data centers to roll out the social credit scores. I’m just saying I don’t think we need all of these data centers to run ChatGPT, Grok, Claude etc. But if you did want social credit scores, you would need a lot of data centers🤔

I love President Trump but I’m not with him on the data centers. The opposition to data centers seems real and organic. The need to shove data centers down the throats of communities who don’t want them seems to be manufactured.

Data centers don’t belong in Manatee County. They use massive amounts of our water and power while bringing very little back to our communities. We don’t need more private equity projects that line investors’ pockets. We need people projects — better roads, reliable emergency services, and infrastructure that actually serves families. Let’s put residents first.
