We partnered with Anthropic OpenAI to host the world's first math hackathon. 40 hours, $2M compute - solve, understand, and present an open problem. Applications are live:

We are gathering 100 top teams from around the world. Our pool has 10 IMO/IOI medals, 15+ Annals papers, 5 textbooks authored, and mathematicians who've solved famous open problems. We will give them $1M of Fable API credits and $1M of Astra API credits to advance a problem of their choice.

The hackathon will be 3 days. On Friday, @AnthropicAI will host a workshop on AI agents equipping mathematicians with the latest techniques. On Saturday and Sunday, competitors will hack. On Sunday evening, competitors will present orally to a panel of expert judges. Preliminary prizes will be awarded to judges who mark the most promising teams. A second wave of prizes will be awarded in early 2027 once mathematicians have had the opportunity to formally verify results.

The goal of this event is to promote responsible use of AI in math. We are committed to: > Equity. We welcome participants from all backgrounds. We admit applicants on the basis of their perceived mathematical ability. We cover travel expenses. > Transparency. We will record and open source all AI chat logs produced at this event. > Understanding. We require participants to present their results orally and answer questions from our judges. > Verification. We will publish results, presentations, and chat logs to for the entire mathematical community to review.

The main track - solve and explain an open problem in mathematics - is evaluated by a panel of independent academics without involvement from sponsors. Then, sponsors provide their own tracks, consisting of pre-written problems ranging from improvements towards number-field-sieve style algorithms to superalignment.
