We quietly shipped a new version of Dia Memory — optimized for browsing and working magically in the background. Most AI apps (like ChatGPT) only know what you explicitly tell them, what you chat about. But now Dia learns more about you and what you’re working on with every... show more

i promise i'm good at my job

Interesting, thanks for the update! But what about privacy? I assume every page we visit (including the content) is sent over to a server to summarize and add to memory. How are we sure this will not be used against us (for ads or something else) or end up in some huge data leak?

I still don’t really understand why this direction wouldn’t fit arc Everyone wants side bars and UX, and some of any pro smart AI features Fumble of the decade

Such updates will have to be accompanied by rigorous explanations of how data privacy is respected. More and more people will be aware of privacy risks in digital landscape, especially with rising of AIs. The winner of browser AI race will be the one company who will manage to pack all the capabilities in an offline model that runs on your own computer, with searchable data files that it stores about interactions and memories. Something that tracks and studies you in the background sound creepy for us who are aware of such privacy risks. Each tab people open does not mean they want it to be remembered by AI and get profiled by it - do you expect people to be aware and open Private Tabs for random browsing? It is not just pr0n, people might not want to be profiled for every search they make online or interact with certain websites etc., unaware that AI will remember that.

What if instead of this you quietly shipped Arc’s full sidebar features in Dia? It’s still the only thing that is keeping me from making Dia my default. Stop fighting against what made your product great. If you thought Arc’s features had too much “novelty” for mass market appeal, you must know that this idea has even less chance of being widely adopted by consumers. It’s too scary for normies, and you will be forced to forever caveat your marketing. From where I’m standing, the only way this browser surveillance obsession could be explained is if your actual plan is to be acquired by and absorbed into Apple. People will only tolerate this perceived invasion of privacy from their phone, not their browser.

Please ship Cmd+S (opening sidebar) and the cute media player so I can start using these features <3

Very disturbing. This opens the door to all sorts of anti-consumer possibilities.

Great, you can use @trywindow too! the portable AI memory, to use the same memory across models... We will have an mcp server so it can be hooked with @diabrowser when it supports that

WIFE ALERT

Feels like we’re inching toward a computer that’s less a tool and more a silent business partner The upside is obvious—context without constant input The risk is how comfortable we get with it knowing everything

yess @DevinLewtan

Your well produced videos are harming your brand. I want to know that a product I'm using is done by people who are focused on shipping, not on filming.

Ship vertical tabs that auto hide. Dia should give the people what they want

But ChatGPT learns as you go without telling it. Why are you lying? I’ve never explicitly told ChatGPT to remember anything but yet somehow it does. Is Dia failing?

pretty sure google tried this and got fined heavily for it.

I paused using Dia due to stuttering scrolling. Im on mac m2. Sync would also be great since lots of people use multiple devices.

Think this is awesome - IMO it's the first really compelling reason to switch to Dia. Having said that, I'm an avid Arc user and still don't see pinned tabs replicated in Dia. It might seem niche, but this is the only thing that's held me back and I know this of several others. I get the desire to chart a new path and decouple from Arc. But I think you and the team are underestimating the outsized return of porting over just a few of these design features (even if they aren't the default).

memory without explicit input is the next frontier. most ai tools still work like search engines—you ask, they answer. but the real utility comes when they understand your context without prompting. privacy concerns are valid though. transparency on data usage matters here.

😆She has a really beautiful smile!

Can we output the memory in json or other format for editing them, or even putting in our favorite LLM?

can you talk to us about security and privacy? if we are going to give our browsing to an ai service (that’s a huge ask) then why should it be you?

Data privacy, software quality - worried too much about it. The browser drains the battery

Could you please release a Windows version? I’d like to use DIA for work 😂

anything agentic?

Love this Josh, memory is something that I think is so important for AI-powered browsers, looking forward to trying it out

Wow, Dia Memory learning in the background is next-level. Turning your AI into a truly personal coworker is wild and exciting!

i am sorry, maybe, a dumb q. but do we have to enable memory for each skill (say, the skills i already have) or this new memory be automatically enabled for skills (new or existing)?

ARC WAS THE FUTURE AND YOU KILLED IT

Great ship, Josh!

@joshm have u tried comet lately?

Great work Josh! Dia has totally changed how I access and work with the internet —

but vertical tabs where

So don't tell my boss about this browser ... got it. 💀

Start setting up your subs (or anyone for that matter) for success! Of course, if you want to create a kinky play scene around punishment, now you know how to do it easily... let them guess what you want! Trust me, if you don't know, they certainly won't. But seriously, how can we command others, lead others, ask others to fulfill tasks if we have no clue about what we want. And the #1 reason for disappointment is because of lack of clarity regarding what we ask for. This also leads people into making assumptions (double disappointment!) It is OUR RESPONSIBILITY to be specific (so to figure that out). That is something that will radically change your ability to reach pleasure in your intimacy, in your Business, with your sub, or husband and overall with yourself! Because when you are clear and specific about what you desire... is how you can most easily manifest it into reality! So it starts with us. Stop waiting for others to figure it out, because even then, what's best for them ain't best for us. And that will always make you feel like you don't know yourself and need others to access the things you want (no agency = no personal power). Once you know what you want, speak up, own it, stand by it. Retweet if you find this valuable! 🥰
