After the signing of the agreement between DRC and Rwanda, people have remained sceptical as many agreements have been signed in the past but failed to produce lasting peace. Even now, although the agreement has been signed, each party seems to have its own understanding of the agreement, and they are still disagreement about how to proceed. It is my view that both parties signed the agreement under pressure from Washington without truly coming to an agreement about how to proceed.

"If you look at what has happened in Eastern Congo, and everything we have gone through over the past four or five years, and you look at what we have left behind, there is evidence. There are facts that speak for themselves. In Eastern Congo, in Goma and elsewhere, the whole world came together against Rwanda. When you look at the scale of what they had assembled there and what they were up against, it is clear that what they were trying to do was wage war against Rwanda, destabilize our country, and reshape it the way they wanted. In fact, they said so themselves. Ordinarily, if someone were to say these things without evidence, you might think they were simply trying to frighten people, to intimidate them. To convince themselves that what they wanted was within reach and that they were going to achieve it, they even brought in mercenaries. You know that many of them passed through here. My European friends have asked whether the US is still committed to the US/EU trade deal. We are. In fact, we signed this agreement in August, and every day since, the United States has been in compliance with what it agreed to do under the agreement. We have yet to have a day where the Europeans are in compliance because they had a process to go through. We’ve been complying. We’re looking forward to the EU successfully getting through its process. My interview with euronews 👇

But it was the very man, Tshisekedi, DRC, who actually initiated that.
