Our welcome at the airport was truly beautiful and deeply moving. We were five students from Gaza who arrived in Geneva to continue our education, and I never expected such a warm reception from the Swiss people. I felt so happy and deeply grateful. For the first time in a long time, I felt face to face that there are people who truly care about Gaza and its people, and who stand with us not only with words, but with real love and support. [WATCH] ANC UPLOADED NAMES ON TIME AND SOME WERE KICKED OUT DUE TO TECHNICAL GLITCHES “We did upload all of the candidates, it’s important to assure our members, supporters and our community that participated in the candidate selection process that took place. We did upload all of our candidates from all the nine provinces and regions on time. The 28th of August was the final day of submission of the final list, why it took place then is because the ANC undergoes an extensive process of vetting and interviewing and holding community meetings, all of this take time. We are very robust in how we’ve improved our candidate selection process. The very last portion of the batch is when the system started kicking them out. That was before 5 o’clock. We are not discussing here a lack of compliance on the part of the African National Congress with regards to meeting the deadline but a batch of names on the uploaded list that were kicked out. We are asking the IEC to consider for submission all those candidates who had already been captured in the IEC system but were kicked out. The second thing we are asking is to get to the bottom of why the very last batch was kicked out. We are asking for an investigation and this will get us to the bottom of the issue. This ties in with the question of are we fighting with the IEC? We are not. We respect and continue to have the full confidence in the integrity of the IEC run processes. There's a stark disconnect between the Trump Administration's description of the economy and the economy that we all live in. There are some things that can't be faked. We pay our bills. We see our bank accounts, and credit card accounts. We don't need the president, or the media, to tell us that "inflation is dead." We can see with our own eyes: Inflation is not dead! Yesterday, it was reported that monthly layoffs from October were the highest total in 22 years! President Trump was elected to deliver a smaller government with less spending and debt, and an end to the wars. We felt very good about it then, and it was such an incredibly strange thing that we were doing. At the time it was a courageous thing to do. John was making the statement in a way that he was looking at the far, far future. I saw it in his eyes. He was saying, ‘OK this is what we’re going to do together.’ And we’re going to give peace a chance. To the world.
