Today, I welcomed a bipartisan delegation of the United States Congress. I am grateful for this visit following a very powerful and critically important decision for us. The people of Ukraine were counting on this decision. We are glad that the United States remains with Ukraine, that it remains our main powerful ally. We discussed military macro-financial support and military assistance, including the need for artillery shells, long-range missiles, electronic warfare equipment, UAVs, combat aviation, and support in developing the Ukrainian defense industry. We also talked about the confiscation of Russian terrorists’ frozen assets, support for Ukraine on its path to NATO, security commitments, Ukraine’s Peace Formula, and U.S. participation in the first inaugural Peace Summit.

The Holy See’s delegation was in Kyiv right during Russia’s massive attack on our people. Russia does not want to stop these attacks, which is why it is so important to keep working for peace. One format that could help make this possible is a meeting at the leaders’ level. I thank the Vatican for its readiness to host such a meeting and to continue making every effort to help make it happen. We discussed the work of the Church in Ukraine. We deeply value our clergy, who support both our warriors and civilians and help people endure these difficult times. We also discussed Ukraine’s path toward EU membership. Importantly, the Vatican supports our European choice and sees that Ukraine is doing everything necessary to become a full member of the European Union. I thank His Holiness and the Vatican for their constant prayers and for their support for Ukraine and our people.

We discussed the need for Patriot systems in Ukraine to protect our cities and communities, such as Kharkiv and the surrounding region. Two Patriots for the Kharkiv region could significantly contribute to the protection of lives from Russian terror. We also talked about preparations for the Global Peace Summit. It is important for us that the United States and President Biden participate and that America's role in maintaining rules-based international order does not weaken. Our partnership with the UK is special for Ukraine – we have built an unprecedentedly strong and friendly dialogue that we can certainly be proud of. It was an honor, on behalf of the Ukrainian people, to present Andy with the first new state distinction – “Gratitude of the Ukrainian People,” awarded to the people of the United Kingdom. And today we are expanding our cooperation even further – Ukraine and the United Kingdom will develop their partnership in the field of artificial intelligence. We signed the relevant declaration today. During our meeting today, we discussed the full range of our cooperation – licenses to produce Storm Shadows, assistance with insurance in the Ukrainian market, how to ensure Ukraine’s financial resilience, diplomacy, and other issues. We value the fact that the UK’s course remains unchanged – full support for Ukraine and our defense. Thank you, Andy! Thank you, Great Britain!
