After the Friday prayers were done, and meeting a number of attendees, Muslims and people of other faiths, we headed to the car. When I had gotten to the car, I had just gotten a text from several brothers who said that the other protesters had asked if I would share some words with them as well. So we turned around and headed back to the quad, fortunately this time not being accosted by any clergy or other counter protesters. The sister of one of the sisters who read the Tahāwiyyah with me in Turkey several years ago, took the mic and introduced me, and I shared my thoughts not only with the protesters, but also with the counter protesters. We all agreed that the blood of children should not be spilled, but some of us are maybe woefully misinformed. I reiterated, that we should all be ready to take people by the hand and sit and discuss these things with love with them, in the hopes that we all can learn something that we didn't know from before. I also reiterated, that some people know better and still choose the path of evil despite knowing it, and we also need to be strong in the face of weathering such treachery, hypocrisy, and devilish situations when we know our cause is just. We thought you might like to meet Luna, the girl who was starved and dumped in Wigan last week 💔 She is doing well, her spirit is strong and she is such a sweetheart 🥰 In the last 2 weeks we have helped two dumped dogs, Luna and Bramble. It is a sign of the times, all the rescues are full and the pounds are full to overflowing. So this film is for the ones who are not as lucky as Luna. If just one person offers a home to a rescue dog rather than buying a puppy it will have been worthwhile. We have seen what transpired today at the Appeal Court and we want to say very clearly that the judgement is not acceptable to all of us in the Labour Party led by my humble self. I want to say very clearly that the judgement is against all known principles of law. The courts, the Supreme Courts and all courts in Nigeria have stated very clearly that the issues of leadership of a political party is an internal affairs of a political party. It is also not true and I disagree when people say that the tenure of this executive has expired. That is untrue and very unacceptable to us. Nigerians will recall that on the 27th of March 2024, we had a valid convention that was held in Nnewi and that convention is still valid and subsisting for 4 years. I want to say that the court today didn't look at that before arriving at the conclusion that the tenure has expired. I must also say clearly that the Umuahia meeting which produced the Caretaker Committee was also against the Labour Party constitution. It is only the National Chairman and National Secretary of a Political Party who has the power to convene any NEC meeting of any of sort. I want to say very clearly that we are going to appeal that decision. Today's decision of the Appeal Court is not acceptable to us and we reject it in its entirety. 🫂My friends, today we ran the kitchen again, and we made a dish of yellow lentils after asking everyone what dish they wanted most. It is an incredibly joyful experience to help others, especially as all other moments of our lives are filled with so much fear and terror. It’s been so long since the borders were opened last that there’s very little nutritious proper food that can be found, and we are doing our best to give people food that has good vitamins and nutrition to help their health, especially the children who need it to grow. The situation here is miserable, my friends, and everyone is exhausted and terrified all of the time. My heart breaks for the families living in tents for entire years of their lives, barely surviving bombs that drop randomly at all hours of the day, and there is constant noise in the sky that makes me miss the sounds of birds in the sky and the peace of quiet during the night. Every day my heart breaks more when I see the #animals and the poor #cats who are suffering terribly. 💔 Your support for us is the only thing that keeps us going through these miserable times, my friends, and for that, we are very grateful.
