People in Birmingham are celebrating in the streets after Israel recognised Somaliland earlier today. Somaliland is a small area in the north of Somalia which has claimed independence. Israel is the first country to recognise it but others may now follow. Somaliland has also announced that it will normalise relations with Israel as part of the Abraham Accords. The celebrations did not impress some locals in Birmingham which has many Palestine supporters.
